Today, the opening ceremony and seminar of "Daxiyi in Lingnan" were successfully held. The seminar was lively and everyone had a lot to say. I chaired the symposium.

In his speech, Professor Jiang Bing said that Zhang Yanqin's use of words was too heavy, and "we must be wary of capitalization." Yes, I just had an expression about being wary of capitalization. In his opinion, the word "vigilance" is overused. At the end of the wrap-up, I made a response to that. In fact, the phrase "wary of capitalization" is not overused, and it is a very sincere expression from my heart.

Why should we be wary of capitalization? What to be wary of?

Vigilance is to be vigilant that when it comes to freehand, it will form a kind of opposition between China and the West, highlighting a kind of Chinese cultural standardism, which is very undesirable. Recently, Mr. Jin Shangyi mentioned the dilemma of freehand, which has aroused great attention in the whole circle, and many people feel that freehand is more awesome, and it is easy to cause confrontation between China and the West. For example, a friend just said in a speech that Chinese painting is several levels higher than Western painting. This is ridiculous. His understanding of Western painting and art is not necessarily comprehensive, and the criteria used for judging are not necessarily accurate. But no matter what, this kind of confrontation between China and the West and Chinese cultural standardism is unacceptable. Mr. Qian Zhongshu said: The East China Sea and the West Sea are the same. I believe that in the underlying logic of human nature, there is no big difference between Chinese and Westerners.

What is the second thing to be wary of? Be wary of the idea that freehand can form a conceptual constraint. Capitalization became a kind of ecstasy. In fact, all language and concepts are a kind of bondage, which does not broaden our understanding of the world, on the contrary, it limits our perception, comprehension and penetration of the world. The freehand is also true. Therefore, we must break free from the shackles of the concept of freehand. At the seminar, we played a video that I wrote, in which I said that ideas are cages and others are hell. Xu Wei and the Eighth Congress, the pinnacle of China's freehand, however, Xu Wei and the Eighth Congress have actually become our hell and our cage. "Hell", laid out in black and white, is more specific and serious than the so-called "vigilance" that I mentioned in my speech just now.

The third vigilance is to be wary of the vulgarization of the concept of freehand. It is a pity that the freehand has been reduced from the elite to the rivers and lakes, and from the orthodoxy to the devil's path. Many words are used too widely, so they lose their original true background and original meaning, and "Miss" is an example. "Daxiyi" is now also on the verge of being very dangerous, between the rivers and lakes and the non-rivers and lakes. We really need to be vigilant.

Then again, why advocate capitalization?

Generally speaking, human art has three values, one is aesthetic, the other is narrative, and the third is enlightenment. Emphasis on aesthetics and narrative, there are more people who mention it, and there are not many people who mention enlightenment. Why? Because aesthetics and narrative are concepts based on the influence of Western culture, enlightenment is "very Chinese", but in fact, the emphasis on aesthetics, narrative, and enlightenment is a major part of the tradition of Chinese and Western art. Of course, Chinese art is deeply influenced by Lingnan Huineng, so the highest pursuit is to do everything in our power to see the mind. The so-called clear mind and insight highlight the sufficiency of human free will and nature. The same is true of modern art in the West. For example, Duchamp said that it is necessary to get out of the cage of self-creation. So far, Chinese and Western art have a common characteristic, which is to re-enlighten the Tao and make people realize the highest value of human beings, which is the most noble pursuit of artists. Daxiyi does have this otherworldly "mystical power" because it leans towards pure art. The expression form of freehand, not only Chinese painting, but also other, and even all art categories, have a tendency to be freehand, which is an absolutely sincere and extremely hearty expression.
