On June 28, the second phase of the Qiaonan Water Purification Plant and the Central Water Purification Plant (Dalong) Project in Panyu District was put into trial operation, which greatly improved the sewage treatment capacity of Panyu.

Qiaonan Water Purification Plant and Central Water Purification Plant Phase II (Dalong) construction project, both of which adopt buried construction, is a major livelihood project in Panyu District, with a new sewage treatment scale of 120,000 tons/day and 100,000 tons/day respectively, which can quickly absorb and treat the sewage generated in the surrounding areas, greatly reduce the full pipe rate of the regional sewage pipe network, alleviate the risk of sewage overflow, and improve the regional water ecological environment. Among them, the completion of the Qiaonan Water Purification Plant has effectively filled the gap in the sewage treatment facilities in the Qiaonan area, further improved the water environment quality of Qiaonan Street, Shawan Street and other areas, and greatly improved the safety and resilience of the sewage system. The second phase of the Central Water Purification Plant (Dalong) has improved the sewage treatment capacity of Nancun Town, Donghuan Street, Dalong Street and other areas, effectively solved the problems of overflow pollution in the rainy season in the upstream area of Yanzhou Chung, effectively optimized the sewage treatment efficiency of the Qianfeng system, and made up for the shortcomings of the current Panyu sewage transfer capacity.

In accordance with the three-year action of water environment management in Panyu District, Panyu has accelerated the water purification plant project to make up for the shortcomings of sewage collection and treatment. With the trial operation of the Qiaonan Water Purification Plant and the Central Water Purification Plant Phase II Project (Dalong) Project, Panyu has built 8 water purification plants, and is promoting the construction of 2 water purification plants in Innovation City and Guangzhou South Railway Station, and it is expected that by the end of 2024, Panyu sewage pipe network can reach 3184.4 kilometers, rainwater pipe network can reach 1972.8 kilometers, and sewage treatment capacity can reach 1.252 million tons/day.
