The scene of Yangge performance in northern Shaanxi

Recently, sponsored by the Yulin Municipal Party Committee of Shaanxi Province and the Yulin Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the Propaganda Department of the Yulin Municipal Party Committee, the Yulin Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and the Yulin Municipal Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Cooperation, the "Yulin Northern Shaanxi Folk Song Exhibition and International Intangible Cultural Heritage Exchange and Mutual Learning Activities" was held in Beijing. Diplomats, scholars and experts in diplomatic relations from more than 20 countries and relevant international institutions, including Albania, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Romania, Italy, Zambia, etc., attended the event to conduct interactive exchanges on topics such as intangible cultural heritage protection and cultural inheritance, and further promote mutual learning among international civilizations.
Nepal's Ambassador to China, Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, said: "I like the presentation of this event very much, unlike the previous exhibitions I have seen, it uses a sense of science and technology to show the historical development of folk songs in northern Shaanxi in an all-round way. I look forward to in-depth exchanges between Nepal and northern Shaanxi on intangible cultural heritage in the future, and further promote friendly exchanges between the two places. ”
With the theme of "inheritance, innovation, mutual learning and cooperation", the event comprehensively displayed the culture of northern Shaanxi through chapters such as "Buried in the Loess of the Millennial Old Roots", "The Stars in the Sky", "Watching the Intangible Cultural Heritage to Keep the Roots", and "Xintianyou Forever Singing". With international intangible cultural heritage performances, characteristic intangible cultural heritage experiences and a variety of scientific and technological exhibition methods, the exhibition will be "lived" and present an audio-visual feast with the theme of intangible cultural heritage for guests and audiences.

At the event, "Katyusha" joined hands with "Xintianyou" to communicate with the common language of music, which deeply infected the guests and the audience. The artist stands on the high slope of the loess built in real scenes, supplemented by waterfalls and caves created by sound and light, showing the topography of the Loess Plateau with staggered beams and ravines, and appropriately bringing the guests to the environment of northern Shaanxi. This kind of innovative form of performance has injected new vitality into the dissemination of traditional culture. The intangible inheritors of folk songs from northern Shaanxi County brought performances such as "Ninety-nine Bends of the Yellow River in the World", "Orchid Flowers", "Eggshell Shell Lighting Half Kang Kang Ming", and artists from Italy and Russia also sang classic songs.
Monica Bezegato, Cultural Adviser at the Embassy of Italy in Beijing, said: "The Xintianyou in Northern Shaanxi is very similar to Italian opera in terms of expression, with a high-pitched and loud voice, which allows everyone to instantly capture the artist's mood at the time of creation. I am looking forward to the folk songs of northern Shaanxi to be performed in Italy. ”
In addition, dancers from Cuba, Alyanis and Yanir, had an in-depth interaction with Yangge from northern Shaanxi at the event. The passionate rumba dance and the enthusiastic Yangge of northern Shaanxi were performed on the same stage, bringing the enjoyment of beauty under the collision of art to the guests at home and abroad.
At the same time, the guests also experienced Yulin's characteristic intangible cultural heritage such as paper-cutting and Yangge dancing. "I have been to Shaanxi many times, but this event has given me a deeper understanding of the culture of northern Shaanxi. ”
Yulin City is very rich in intangible cultural heritage resources, with 12 national-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects, 66 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects, and 211 municipal-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects. In January 2023, the Northern Shaanxi Cultural and Ecological Reserve (Yulin City, Shaanxi Province) passed the acceptance and was officially announced as a national cultural and ecological reserve. In February of the same year, the first annual meeting on the protection of China's intangible cultural heritage was held in Yulin, which further improved the level of protection and inheritance of the city's intangible cultural heritage, and also polished the "golden signboard" of Yulin's intangible cultural heritage.
