On the morning of July 17, in the section of the Nanming River between Nanming Bridge and Jiaxiu Building in the central urban area, more than 10 workers and masters wearing waterproof pants were taking the semi-mechanized operation of "lawn mower + sickle" in the river water of different depths to prune different degrees of aquatic weeds.

Wang Lianyou, head of the salvage squad of the maintenance department of the Guiyang River and Lake Protection Center, said that from June to September every year, the suitable temperature in Guiyang will make the aquatic plants in the Nanming River grow rapidly, and one aquatic grass can grow about 20 centimeters per day. The excessive growth of aquatic weeds not only has an impact on the river water, but also easily absorbs the garbage in the river, intercepts the floating debris on the water surface and blocks the flow of the river water, and ultimately affects the river flood discharge. Since June 3 this year, the Guiyang River and Lake Protection Center has started the pruning of aquatic weeds in the central urban area of the Nanming River, and the pruning of aquatic weeds in the section from the No. 1 bridge to the Chaoyang Bridge has been completed in the early stage. Wang Lianyou said: "The amount of water and grass we mow every day is about 12 or 3 tons, and the total area of the daily cut is about 4,500 to 5,000 square meters. ”

In order to minimize the impact on the public's play by the river, during the pruning process of aquatic weeds, the Guiyang River and Lake Protection Center has set up oil booms at the Sifang River, Baojiaojing, Xiduoman, Chaoyang Bridge and Shuikou Temple to salvage aquatic weeds and other floating objects floating on the river surface after pruning. "We use oil booms in many places to block the aquatic weeds, salvage them ashore, and then clear and load them and transfer them to the aquatic weed treatment point in container trucks." Wang Lianyou said.
