On July 24, under the close deployment of the Hanbin District Agriculture and Rural Bureau and the Hanbin Public Security Bureau, a case of suspected illegal fishing of aquatic products was successfully seized in the main stream waters of the Hanjiang River under the high-speed bridge in Honglian Village, Jianmin Street, Hanbin District, which effectively maintained the sustainable development of the ecological environment and fishery resources in the waters of the Hanjiang River.
It is understood that the fishery law enforcement officers of the Hanbin District Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade found an abnormal situation in the waters of the Hanjiang River section under the Honglian Village Expressway Bridge during their daily inspections, and immediately fed back the clues to the Environmental and Food and Drug Crime Investigation Brigade of the Hanbin Public Security Bureau. The two departments mobilized backbone forces to form a joint strike team, and after in-depth clue exploration and waiting, law enforcement officers arrested the criminal suspects Xu Mouli and Li Moufu who were engaged in illegal fishing at 6:25 a.m. on July 24, 2024. A total of 24.62 kilograms of illegal fishing tools such as 1 electric tricycle, 4 ground cages, 1 visual fish anchorer, 1 oxygen generator, and various aquatic products such as mandarin fish, red tail, yellow and spicy tench, river shrimp, and soft-shelled turtle were seized at the scene. At present, the Hanbin Public Security Bureau has filed a criminal case against the two criminal suspects.
Illegal fishing has caused great damage to the ecological balance of the waters, and seriously affected the breeding and living environment of aquatic organisms. The person in charge of the Hanbin District Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Brigade said that it will always maintain a high-pressure posture against illegal fishing, strengthen inspection and supervision, increase crackdowns, and resolutely curb the occurrence of such illegal and criminal activities with a zero-tolerance attitude.
The successful seizure of this case not only has a strong deterrent effect on illegal fishermen, but also demonstrates the firm determination of the Hanbin Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Department to protect the ecological environment of the waters and protect fishery resources. At the same time, it also calls on the general public to enhance their awareness of environmental protection, consciously abide by relevant laws and regulations, and do not let the "fishing net" touch the "legal net".
In the next step, the Agriculture and Rural Bureau of Hanbin District will continue to strengthen cooperation with relevant departments, form a joint force in law enforcement, further improve the long-term supervision mechanism, and strive to win the battle of the "ten-year fishing ban" on the Yangtze River.
