It's hard to buy something offline and return it.
But some home appliances are an exception - many times, the merchant will rush to give you a refund. If you insist on not returning, the merchant will even say good things to you, such as the electric water heater we are going to talk about today:
When you don't meet the installation conditions, the merchant will rush to return it to you. The more you say that you won't return, the more scared the merchant becomes, for fear that you will secretly pretend that something is wrong and go to them for trouble.
Therefore, before buying an electric water heater, be sure to check whether it meets the installation conditions. Otherwise, it is really troublesome to buy it home and return it.
Today, let's take a look at 8 common and problematic installation conditions.
.01 ground
The socket on which the electric water heater is installed must be equipped with a properly grounded ground wire. Note that only the ground wire is not enough, and the ground wire must also be able to work.
The function of the ground wire is to prevent the user from being electrocuted, and it is a protective wire for safety.
Line detection
After the installation, the tester will be used to test the socket in the user's home first. If there is no ground wire, the after-sales service will refuse to provide installation services - because it is really dangerous!
.02 16A three-pin socket
The socket used in the electric water heater must be a 16A three-pin socket - a five-pin socket is not good, even a 16A five-pin socket is not good. If you install a three-pin socket but it's 10A, it won't work.
Because there are two kinds of three-pin plugs, one is 10A and one is 16A. The size of these two plugs is different▽
The plug of the electric water heater is a large plug and can only be plugged into a 16A three-pin outlet. Otherwise, all other outlets on the market will not work. Sockets can be bought at the aftermarket, but the price is several times higher than that of buying it yourself.
.03 4mm² copper wire
The wire behind the socket must be copper wire of 4mm² and above. Now the power of electric water heaters is relatively high, the working current is relatively large, and the wires are fine, which is easy to heat up and catch fire.
It is not enough to reach 4mm², it must also be copper wire.
If you are in an old community and equipped with a relatively small meter, you may still not be able to use it with 4mm² copper wire. In this case, you can choose an electric water heater with a "half-tank heating" function or less than 2000W.
.04 waterproof case
According to the national standard, all switches and sockets in the bathroom need to be equipped with waterproof boxes. However, other switches and sockets are unsupervised, and the electric water heater socket does not have a waterproof box, which will be refused to be installed by workers.
The thickness of the waterproof box is large and small
The largest waterproof case can be plugged in and the lid can be covered normally
It is advisable to choose the largest one so that you can close the lid after plugging it in. The waterproof case cannot be protected against spray water, but it can prevent splash water, which still has a certain effect (provided that the lid is not opened).
.05 Angle Valve
Most people know that hot and cold water pipes should be reserved under the electric water heater. But some people reserved hot and cold water pipes, and when the workers arrived at the scene, they found that the water pipes were still covered with temporary plugs for decoration!
The cold water pipe of the electric water heater must be equipped with an angle valve.
It is recommended that you buy it yourself, so that everyone will have no trouble. Of course, you can also let the workers provide it, but the price is relatively high - I bought this because the angle valve in my house was broken at that time, and I was charged 150 yuan / piece, which made me feel distressed for a long time.
.06 water pressure
Today's electric water heaters are fast-heating and use hot water to pour cold water into them. Using the pressure of cold water, the hot water is "pushed" out of the water heater.
This creates a requirement for the water pressure of the tap water.
There is usually a pressure gauge on the pre-filter
Generally, the water pressure requirement of the electric water heater is 0.15MPa, if the water pressure is too low due to the old community, no running water, and too high floors, you can choose a low-pressure electric water heater, which only needs 0.12MPa. No matter how low it is, you can't use an electric water heater.
.07 Wall type
The best wall surface for an electric water heater is a "load-bearing wall", which can be installed directly and is the most trouble-free. It can also be a partition wall built with bricks, which also has a certain load-bearing capacity.
It's a pity that most of the new houses nowadays are common with light walls.
If you plan to install an electric water heater on the wall, you will need to use a special hanger - you can only buy it from the after-sales office, and the price ranges from 150 yuan ~ 300 yuan.
In addition, there are two special cases:
(1) If the thickness of the wall is less than 10cm, then I'm sorry, I can't even hang the hanger, and I can only return it.
(2) If the capacity of the electric water heater exceeds 80L (not included), even if it is a load-bearing wall, it needs to be equipped with a hanger.
.08 Reserved space
This is a point that many users overlook: the electric water heater cannot be installed, and some space needs to be reserved around it (mainly for easy maintenance). Common reserve sizes are –
Reserve 10cm on the left side and bottom, and 30cm on the right side (the access port of the water heater is on the right).
If you have a small bathroom space and can't reserve these spaces, you can consider choosing a slim, double-bladder, vertical and other special shape of the electric water heater.
