September 10 this year is the 40th Teacher's Day in mainland China, and the theme of this year's Teacher's Day is "vigorously carry forward the spirit of educators and accelerate the construction of a strong country in education". In order to carry forward and inherit the spirit of educators, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University held a grand celebration and commendation activities, and the hospital established the second batch of Yat-sen Education Series Scholarships and Teaching Funds in the name of six seniors: Chen Guozhen, Yan Tang, He Tianqi, Zheng Huiguo, Ou Qingjia and Liu Yuming, to pay tribute to the predecessors of medical educators, and at the same time encourage the younger generations to keep upright, innovate and move forward in the field of medical teaching.

Again the award: pay tribute to the six predecessors
It is understood that Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University has set up a series of Yixian education scholarship and teaching projects in the name of famous doctors and teachers, which is used to reward outstanding talents with outstanding achievements in medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, management and other work, and encourage them to take their predecessors as an example, fraternity and virtue, strive for excellence, and make unremitting efforts for a healthy China.
Last year, the hospital set up the first batch of scholarships and teaching funds in the name of nine famous teachers, including Professor Zhong Shifan, the father of Academician Zhong Nanshan and a famous pediatric expert, as well as Ke Lin, Chen Xintao, Zhou Shoukai, Lin Shumo, Chen Yaozhen, Xie Zhiguang, Qin Guangyu and Li Tingan. A total of 18 famous doctors and teachers who have been on the front line of medical education and research for a long time, loyal to the cause of medicine and education, superb medical skills, noble medical ethics, rigorous learning and dedication were awarded.
A year later, this warm force gathered again, and the hospital established the second batch of Yatsen Education Series Scholarships and Teaching Funds in the name of six seniors: Chen Guozhen, Yan Tang, He Tianqi, Zheng Huiguo, Ou Qingjia and Liu Yuming, to pay tribute to the spirit of the predecessors and help the development of medical education.

One of the scholarships and teaching funds established this time is the District Celebration Award. Professor Ou Qingjia has also devoted a lot of effort to medical education, focusing on cultivating students' practical ability and innovative thinking, and paying more attention to the cultivation of medical ethics.
Among Professor Au's students, many have become leaders in the medical field. Professor Liu Chao and Professor Chen Yajin, who received the first batch of Yatsen Education Series Scholarships, have now made remarkable achievements in the field of medicine, and they have never forgotten their teacher's kindness and remembered Professor Ou's teachings. When they learned that the hospital was going to set up the second batch of Yat-sen Education Series Scholarships, they decided to use all the scholarships and teaching funds they received to set up the District Celebration Scholarship to express their gratitude to their teachers and hope to pass on this love and responsibility to more medical juniors.
In the process of setting up the District Celebration Scholarship, the teachers and students of the Department of General Surgery responded one after another, and Professor Wang Jie and others took the lead in setting an example and generously funding. They not only donated their own money, but also actively contacted their peers to raise funds for the District Celebration Commendation Fund, and finally raised more than 500,000 yuan. The funds will be used to reward outstanding medical teachers who have made outstanding achievements in surgical medicine, teaching and research, and encourage them to continue to contribute to the medical career.
For the first time, a nursing scholarship was established in the name of the angel in white
In 1945, the Japanese bombed Boji Hospital on Wende Road and nearby houses. There was a nurse who didn't hide when she bombed...... When the bomb whistled down, she immediately threw herself on the bed to cover the patient...... She is worthy of the title of Angel in White".
This is a description of an angel in white who used his body to protect patients during the war in a historical material. And the name of this angel in white is also among the second batch of Yat-sen Education Series Scholarships - she is Nurse Liu Yuming.
Liu Yuming, a nurse covering patients during the Anti-Japanese War
During the Anti-Japanese War, the young Liu Yuming was working as a nurse in Boji Hospital (the predecessor of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University) when a bomb dropped by an enemy bomber whistled and hit a large banyan tree outside the ward, causing shrapnel to fly into the ward. Seeing this, Liu Yuming immediately pushed the patient to the ground and immediately lay on her to cover. After being shot, most of the shrapnel in her back was removed, but the shrapnel in her neck remained in her body forever. Nurse Liu Yuming's selfless spirit is a fine tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation of nurses at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.
As one of the few scholarships and teaching funds set up specifically for nursing, the Liu Yuming Scholarship is warm and unique in this batch of scholarships. It will be used to commend outstanding nurses who have made outstanding achievements in nursing teaching and research, aiming to inspire more nursing workers to bring more warm and professional nursing services to patients with more enthusiasm and exquisite technology, and make the light of humanistic care in medicine more dazzling.
