The mainland plans to expand trade sanctions against Taiwan, Hong Xiuzhu: I hope to implement the policy of benefiting Taiwan and have more cross-strait exchanges

According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has set up trade barriers for mainland products to prevent mainland products from entering the island. After the results of the mainland's investigation were released, the Taiwan authorities have yet to take corrective measures. Based on this, the Ministry of Commerce recently announced that it will further reduce ECFA's concessions to Taiwan. The ECFA agreement was signed in 2010, when cross-strait relations were in a relatively relaxed phase. At present, as the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led by Lai Ching-te has repeatedly promoted "Taiwan independence" on the island, the ECFA is no longer suitable for the current situation. On 10 October, Lai Qingde made a speech that intensified cross-strait antagonism and encouraged the island to reject reunification. On the 10th, the mainland imposed sanctions on three United States military enterprises and 10 affiliated personnel.

On the 12th, the Ministry of Commerce announced that it would further reduce the ECFA concession program to Taiwan. On the 14th, the "United Sword-2024B" military exercise debuted. Also on the 14th, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council announced that it would launch sanctions against "Taiwan independence" personnel Shen Boyang and Cao Xingcheng. Also sanctioned was the Black Bear Academy, a "Taiwan independence" training institution organized by the above-mentioned two people. It can be seen that the mainland's measures to crack down on "Taiwan independence" are intensive and coherent. Among them, the economic sector has cut the ECFA concessions, which are in line with mainland laws and regulations and WTO rules. It is increasing the economic costs of the DPP's rejection of reunification. Taiwan media concluded that the DPP has three axes in dealing with the mainland's reduction of ECFA.

First, appeal to the WTO. This remark was used as a shield by the DPP during the investigation of trade barriers on the mainland. After the results of the mainland investigation were released, it was announced that the Taiwan authorities had blocked the entry of more than 2,500 goods from the mainland. The DPP authorities' violation of WTO rules is a thief shouting to catch a thief. Second, the mainland's countermeasures have little impact. With the expansion of the scale of the mainland's cuts and concessions, this statement has been increasingly questioned by the island. The upgrading of the mainland's industrial industries has made the island's products inherently uncompetitive. After the preferential tariff has been reduced, it will be more difficult for the petrochemical, textile, and electronic products on the island to maintain their share in the mainland market, and they have threatened to look for other markets outside the mainland.

With the downturn in the markets of developed countries such as United States, Japan, Korea, and Europe, the DPP's new southbound policy has failed. The DPP's argument that it is looking for markets outside the mainland is obviously unrealistic. Against this backdrop, the mainland's move to reduce the ECFA is creating sustained pressure and pushing for a change in the island's attitude towards the DPP. To be more precise, it is not so much that the mainland is recovering its concessions, but rather that it is shifting the direction of concessions. It has shifted from increasing the stickiness of cross-strait trade to attracting Taiwan compatriots and Taiwan businessmen to move to the mainland and promoting the process of cross-strait integration.

The cross-strait integrated development demonstration zone mechanism is a representative of the integrated development policy. In the process of cross-strait integration and development, Hong Xiuzhu, former chairman of the Kuomintang, played a role in boosting. Hong Xiuzhu recently visited Shaanxi, during which he claimed three apple trees from Nangou Village, Ansai, Yan'an. Hong Xiuzhu said: At present, cross-strait exchanges are blocked by the DPP. However, she believes that Taiwanese companies will run wherever there are business opportunities. Hong Xiuzhu gave suggestions on the situation of Taiwan businessmen, pointing out that when the DPP blocks and the mainland rises, it is very difficult for Taiwan businessmen to be caught in the middle. It is hoped that the mainland localities will implement the policy of benefiting Taiwan, so that Taiwan businessmen will feel that they are being taken care of.

Hong Xiuzhu suggested that Taiwan businessmen should keep up with the mainland's demand and promote industrial upgrading. When interviewed by Taiwan media, Hong Xiuzhu also suggested that the two sides of the strait should have more exchanges and lower the age group for exchanges. He pointed out that the younger generation on the island has been influenced by the DPP's revision of textbooks and does not know where their roots are.

With the expansion of the mainland's development achievements, the position of Taiwan businessmen in the mainland's industrial chain has shown a downward trend. This requires Taiwan businessmen to follow up the mainland's industrial process and promote their own technological upgrading in order to maintain the mainland market. The enhancement of the mainland's national strength is also forming a cultural export and a boom in tourism to the mainland on the island. The mainland has used its military hard power, economic attractiveness, and cultural soft power to promote the process of cross-strait reunification in various fields.
