author:The joy of listening

The flying lemur species can be found throughout Southeast Asia, from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, southern Vietnam, southern Myanmar and Singapore.

Flying lemurs are not lemurs and do not fly. Instead, it glides while jumping between trees. It is strictly arboreal, active at night and feeds on soft plant parts such as young leaves, branches, flowers and fruits. They clutched the trunk of the tree or the underside of the branches with four feet. Climbing involves stretching their two front legs and then lifting both of their hind legs, which leads to clumsy jumps. They can glide for more than 100 m.

Its sliding membrane connects from the neck and extends along the limbs to the tips of the fingers, toes and nails. This kite-shaped skin is called Patagium, and it can glide and expand. It can maneuver and navigate while taxiing, but heavy rainfall and winds can affect its ability to glide. Gliding usually occurs in open areas or high in the canopy, especially in dense rainforests.
