Wei Jie (1914.03.29--- 1987.02.03), formerly known as Wei Shiliang, Zhuang. A native of Renyi Village, Donglan Donglan Town, Guangxi. In the winter of 1929, he joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. In October 1930, he joined the Communist Youth League of China. He joined the Communist Party of China in March 1933. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he successively served as the platoon commander of the 53rd Regiment of the 19th Division of the Red 7th Army, the commander of the reconnaissance company of the 5th Division of the Red 3rd Army, and the commander of the 13th Regiment, and participated in the second to fifth anti-encirclement and suppression operations and the Long March in the Central Soviet Region. After arriving in northern Shaanxi, he served as the chief of staff and regimental commander of the 223rd Regiment of the 73rd Division of the Red 15th Army, the commander of the cavalry regiment, the chief of staff of the 73rd Division, and the commander of the 75th Division. He led his troops to participate in the battles of Zhiluo Town, the Eastern Expedition, and the Western Expedition. In August 1937, he entered the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University and served as a captain. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he successively served as the commander of the Special Agent Regiment of the Headquarters of the Eighth Route Army, the commander of the 688th Regiment of the 344th Brigade of the 115th Division, the commander of the newly organized 1st Brigade of the 129th Division, the commander of the Hundred Regiments War in August 1940, and the commander of the Fifth Military Sub-district of the Taihang Military Region after 1943. During the Liberation War, he served as deputy commander of the 6th Column and brigade commander of the 16th Brigade of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Military Region, and led his troops to participate in the Shangdang Campaign. In 1948, he served as the commander of the 14th Column of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Military Region, the commander of the 14th Column and the 13th Column of the North China Military Region, and the commander of the 61st Army, leading his troops to participate in the battles of Taiyuan, Shaanxi, Fumei, and the southwest. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as the commander of the 61st Army and the commander of the Northern Sichuan Military Region, and in March 1951, he participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and served as the commander of the 60th Army of the 3rd Corps of the Chinese Volunteer Army, leading the troops to participate in the Fifth Campaign. After returning to China in 1952, he served as the director of the senior correspondence department of the Military Academy, the deputy commander of the Chengdu Military Region, and the secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of the Chengdu Military Region of the Communist Party of China. He was a deputy to the Fifth National People's Congress and was elected as a member of the Central Advisory Committee of the Communist Party of China in 1982. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general and was awarded the Order of August 1, Second Class, the Order of Independence and Freedom, First Class, and the Liberation Medal, First Class. He is the author of "Memoirs of Wei Jie".
