Moscow, 4 Oct (Xinhua) -- The Russian Federal Security Service issued a circular on 4 October saying that Russian security forces have destroyed a den of the international terrorist organization "Islamic Liberation Party" in Moscow and Moscow Oblast, and arrested 8 terrorists, including two leaders.
The circular pointed out that these arrestees spread terrorist ideas to the residents of the Moscow region and carried out "anti-constitutional activities" in an attempt to change the secular social system and overthrow the regime by force. The Russian Federal Security Service confiscated the banned propaganda materials from them.
In recent years, Russia has been taking harsh and pre-emptive measures to crack down on terrorism, and the overall social security situation has remained stable. According to data released by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, from January to August this year, Russia cracked 1,607 crimes of a terrorist nature, a decrease of 1.7% year-on-year; cracked 769 crimes with extremist tendencies, an increase of 31.5% year-on-year.
