U.S. President Joe Biden considered deploying the National Guard to help solve supply chain bottlenecks

author:Bright Net

US President Joe Biden said on October 21 local time that the bottleneck of the US supply chain has led to supply shortages and rising consumer costs. If his administration is unable to alleviate the problem, Biden will consider deploying a National Guard to assist in resolving the issue.

Biden said on CNN that if the shortage of truck drivers and warehouse workers creates problems throughout the supply chain, the workforce could be increased by deploying the National Guard. This is what the United States is doing.

However, on October 22, local time, White House press secretary Psaki downplayed the possibility of deploying the National Guard. Psaki said that while the president has the authority to issue such an order, the deployment of the National Guard at the state level depends on the governor, and the federal government is not currently actively deploying the National Guard at the federal level, nor is it actively seeking local governments to deploy the National Guard.
