After graduation, starting from the foreign trade of puffer fish, Li Weidong opened his "intimate contact" with puffer fish. In 2006, Haidu Fisheries Group was established, and the company began to cultivate redfin oriental pufferfish artificially. Mentioning the redfin oriental dolphin, Li Weidong said with excitement: "The redfin oriental pufferfish is an "indigenous species" in the coastal waters of Tangshan, its flesh is white and tender, the meat is delicious and nutritious, and it is the most high-grade species of puffer fish; at the same time, the environment and water quality of the Tangshan coast are also suitable for breeding pufferfish. ”
In 2016, the state "conditionally liberalized the processing and operation of the cultured redfin oriental pufferfish and the breeding of dark-striped oriental pufferfish", which made the puffer fish in a state of "fasting" in China for a long time become history.
The "pufferfish fast" was officially unfrozen, and conditional legal consumption became a reality. In recent years, the Tangshan puffer fish industry has shown large-scale, industrialized and regionalized development, and has become a characteristic aquatic product of Tangshan, with a strong regionality, and has become a highlight of marine aquaculture in the Bohai Sea. On June 24, 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China approved the registration and protection of geographical indications of agricultural products for "Tangshan River Pufferfish". This not only standardizes the breeding and processing process of redfin oriental pufferfish in the coastal areas of Tangshan, improves the comprehensive production capacity and selling price of "Tangshan Pufferfish", and further ensures and enhances the food quality of "Tangshan Pufferfish".
