Speaking of monkeys, the people of the whole country are most familiar with Sun Wukong in "Journey to the West". He made a big fuss in the Heavenly Palace, forced the Jade Emperor to name him "Qi Tian Dasheng", and then was pressed under the Five Elements Mountain for five hundred years, under the initiation of Guanyin, he protected the Tang monks to go to the Western Heavens to learn the scriptures, and finally cultivated the right results, was named "Fighting to Defeat the Buddha", and sat side by side with the Tang monks.

Monkey king

However, Sun Wukong is a literary fiction, and one of the monkeys who was really recorded in history as an official was the "Sun Offering" during the time of Tang Zhaozong.

Tang Zhaozong (867-904), courtesy name Li Ye, was the last emperor of the Tang Dynasty.

When the Tang Dynasty arrived at Tang Zhaozong, it was already thinning out, but it was still barely holding on.

Tang Zhaozong was actually a very clever emperor. He also tried hard to rule the country, always hoping to restore the glory of Datang one day.

Unfortunately, the great trend of the Tang Dynasty has gone, and Tang Zhaozong is unable to return to heaven. Later, he also had to watch the eyes of the warlord Zhu Wen of the clan town act and became a puppet emperor.

Tang Zhaozong was also once expelled from the palace, and he was like a dog that lost his family.

Tang Zhaozong

On the way to escape, Tang Zhaozong did not have all kinds of entertainment in the court, and only a monkey man and his monkey followed.

This monkey is very clever and can follow the minister up and down.

Tang Zhaozong probably saw his own shadow from the monkey's body and felt sorry for it.

Monkeys were played around, so why wasn't Tang Zhaozong himself played around?

Because Tang Zhaozong liked this monkey too much, he dressed him in a crimson (red) robe, let him go to the court with the Wen and Wu officials, and named it "Sun Offering". "Offering" is an official position that serves at the emperor's side. Monkeys are also called "monkeys", and "monkeys" are homophonous with "sun". Therefore, this Sun offering is the same surname as Sun Wukong.

In the Tang Dynasty, only officials with more than five pins could wear red official uniforms. That meant that Sun Gong was at least an official of five pins or more.

At this time, some people were indignant: how many talents struggled all their lives and could not be a sesame mung bean petty official. A monkey can be a five-pin official by pleasing the emperor.

A fallen disciple named Luo Yin wrote a poem to satirize this matter: "Twelve or three years of trial period, the five lakes smoke moon Nai contradictory." He Ru learned to take the sun offering, and smiled at the king. "It means that I began to take the examination when I was a teenager, and I didn't pass the exam more than a dozen times, when can I be like Sun Fengfeng, as long as I make the emperor laugh, I can wear a red robe and become a high-ranking official."

The poem soon reached Tang Zhaozong's ears. He wasn't angry either, he just smiled and said, "I think Sun Fengfeng must be a loyal subject, but you don't have to." "Tang Zhaozong was in a chaotic world, and he had long been accustomed to human affection, and knew that most of his courtiers were inflammatory followers, and it was better to believe that they could be loyal than to believe in a monkey.

He said this casually, and sure enough, he was unlucky to say it.

On the night of August 11, 904, the first year of Emperor Zhaozong of Tang's reign (904), Zhu Wen sent his subordinates Jiang Xuanhui and Shi Tai to lead more than a hundred people to break into the palace late at night, saying that there was an urgent matter and asking to meet Emperor Zhaozong.

Zhaozong was sleeping, and when he heard that someone had entered the palace to look for him, he knew that something was wrong, and even before he could put on his clothes, he got up and hid behind the pillar. But Mrs. Too soon found him and killed him. Zhaozong was only 37 years old when he died.

Tang Zhaozong and Ling

Zhu Wen killed Emperor Zhaozong and his son Li Li (李柷), destroyed Tang, and proclaimed himself emperor and established Later Liang.

Zhu Wen saw that Emperor Zhaozong's grandson was very clever, so he left it behind, so that it was still wearing a robe to the court.

Zhu Wen

But Sun Feng did not accept his affection.

It saw that the master on the original throne had changed, and immediately jumped up from his seat and pounced directly on Zhu Wen to tear Zhu Wen's dragon robe. Zhu Wen was so frightened that he ordered him to be beheaded.

At that time, after Emperor Zhaozong was killed, many of his civilian generals submitted to the new dynasty, and none of them rose up to resist. Only this monkey Sun worshipper rose up to fight back and was loyal to the former emperor.

Although Sun Gong is a monkey, he also knows how to be loyal to his master and is more dignified than most people.

Some people compare Sun Worship with Sun Wukong. In fact, Sun Wukong is only a fictional literary figure, and the official position is not as good as Sun's offering. Sun Wukong was only a "Bow Ma Wen" who raised horses for the Jade Emperor, and did not even have a grade, and the so-called "Great Sage of Qi Tian" later became only self-appointed, not a real official position. Sun offerings are truly recorded in history. His deeds of loyalty and righteousness have also been relished by future generations.

Sun offerings

At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, the patriotic poet Lin Jingxi once wrote a poem "Sun Offering" praising it:

The silk robe is blessed by heaven, and the day looks at the Tang Dynasty.

Zhu San'er wanted to make both knees.

Shen Zidong, a Wujiang man of the Qing Dynasty, also wrote a poem "Sun Offering":

The gun is based on Wei Que, and the charm is disordered. The whole world is invincible, and Sun Jun alone is sentimental.

In the past, he was dressed in disguise, and now he is willing to wear silver. The people in the temple are beasts, and the weak enemies in front of the bed are strong.

Fight back against the thief and cut off the head of The Former Emperor. There are shy Su followers, and actually the heron line.

The poem writes about Sun's feat of "fighting against the thief and breaking the head of The Former Emperor", and uses Su Xun, who is a seller for glory, as a comparison. Su Xun was a courtier of Emperor Zhaozong of Tang, who was good at greeting Emperor Zhaozong of Tang, and had helped Zhu Wen force Emperor Tang to take the throne, and was appointed as the deputy envoy of the Book of Rites. He also said that Zhu Wen was a virtuous person, which was really shameless. Compared with Sun's offering, he is really "inferior to the beast".

Human beings are good at decorating themselves with benevolence and morality, but in the face of life and death and interests, how many people sell their lords for glory and do disgraceful things. Animals do not have so many considerations, they are good for people, bad is not good, will not be a set of surfaces, a set behind. In this regard, human beings are really "inferior to animals".
