Faith in water (01): Fresh water on the tip of the tongue

The picture shows a Dai family woman fishing from the water (courtesy of the xtbg museum) As the saying goes: relying on the mountain to eat the mountain, relying on the water to draft water. The Dai family is no exception. Since living by the water and relying on the water, it is naturally "near the water tower platform to get the moon first", of course, the Dai family will get a lot of food from the water around them! They are good at getting ingredients from the water, and they are also good at processing these ingredients from the water. The Dai family's lemongrass grilled fish and pickled sour fish have long been famous at home and abroad, so that people will never forget it once they eat it, and whenever they think of them, they will dream back to Xishuangbanna!

Old Mitao (old woman) of the Dai tribe is fishing for moss in the river

Needless to say, common fish, shrimp, crabs, mussels, snails and other aquatic tribes are all favorite aquatic delicacies of the Dai family, and there are two most amazing aquatic delicacies: one is moss. Every year from February to April, Xishuangbanna is in the dry season, the river is shallow, at this time you can fish up the moss that grows on the stones in the river, put it in a bamboo basket to wash the sediment debris, and then spread it on the bamboo fence to dry. When eaten, there are various methods, either you can crush it and stir-fry it with sesame oil and condiments, or you can cook it on a charcoal fire and dip it into sauce. No matter which way you eat it, you can't help but admire its delicious taste and rich nutrition! Another delicacy is what the Dai family calls "Gedu (meaning a bug with strange skin and a soft body)", which usually lives under the pebbles of a shallow beach, resembling a small centipede, the size of a small finger, multi-legged but without long tentacles, and a softer body, black and white. Therefore, the local Han Chinese people figuratively refer to it as the "water centipede". After washing, this little bug is first blanched in boiling water, then fried in sesame oil, and eaten with a little seasoning! Its crisp and tender taste is no less than that of bee pupae! It is said that it also has a certain health care function!
