The Bergman pistols of non-famous pistols are various

author:Cow ogo

For gun enthusiasts, the name Bergman is certainly not unfamiliar, although he is not a gun design expert, but the weapons company named after him is very famous, and the famous flower mechanism that was once widely popular in old China is made by Bergman. In fact, for the development of pistols, Bergman also spent many years of effort.

Now, in the axis of time, we will list all kinds of Bergman pistols.

1,First 1892/1893

The original Bergman pistol was born in 1892. That year, German firearms designer Louis Schmeiser, in collaboration with Bergmann AG, began designing an automatic pistol with a built-in 5-round magazine, which was patented in 1892 and production began in 1893. This is the picture below:

The gun uses a delayed recoil automatic method. Caliber 7.5 mm, firing Swiss 7.5 mm revolver cartridges. The magazine is front-mounted for ammunition supply, with a capacity of 5 rounds.

The loading of the gun was seriously different from that of later automatic pistols, which first opened the right plate of the magazine and then loaded the 5-round leak clip. See:

Isn't this a bit like the missing clip of a Manlisha rifle? It's kind of like that.

Look again:

This is the magazine door that opens from the right side of the gun body, and the 5-round leak clip is loaded from here.

The gun was not recognized by the army, and only a few prototype guns were produced before being discontinued. But it is the originator of a series of Bergman pistols, and its significance and status are significant.

2, Bergman No. 1 pistol

In 1894, the Bergman Company made improvements to the original gun, which led to the No. 1 pistol:

Compared to the prototype, the main change in the No. 1 pistol was the redesign of the operating mechanism, and the delayed recoil type was changed to a simple free bolt type, simplifying the process and reducing costs.

The gun comes in a variety of calibers, 7.5 mm, 5 mm, 6.5 mm. One of the 5 mm Bergman pistol cartridges is shown below:

The two 5 mm Bergman bullets are not the same, one (top) is an early model, no pulling groove, and one (bottom) is a late model, with a pulling groove.

The No. 1 Bergman pistol was also not very successful, and it was still discontinued after only a few samples were produced.

3, Bergman No. 2 pistol

In 1896, the Bergman 2 pistol was introduced. The No. 2 Bergman pistol has been in many styles. The first production was something like this:

Please look at the picture above, this plate machine is very old,no protective circle, much like some kind of plate machine in our ancient weapons.

The model of this plateless machine guard was probably just an experiment, and it was abandoned before a few were produced. Next is the following image of this style:

The Gun Elements:

Caliber: 5 mm

Initial speed: 177 US/s

Full gun length: 280 mm

Barrel length: 90 mm

Full gun weight: 1.03 kg

In fact, there are several different styles of the Bergman No. 2 pistol, but not much difference, not listed.

4, Bergman No. 3 pistol

Also in 1896, another Bergman 3 pistol was introduced. Look at the picture:

Unlike Bergman No. 2, Bergman No. 3 fired a 6.5 mm Bergman pistol cartridge:

The 6.5 mm Bergman pistol cartridge is also divided into early and late bullets, with the early bullets (left) having no pull-shell grooves and the later (right) pull-shell grooves.

Caliber: 6.5 mm

Gun length: 255 mm

Barrel length: 114 mm

Total gun weight: 885 grams

First speed: 216-236 US/s

The standard version of the Bergman No. 3 pistol has a barrel length of 114 mm, but there are also models with a barrel length of 184 mm:

The Bergmann 3 pistol achieved some commercial success, and the German army still did not adopt it, but there were small purchases for troops outside Germany.

5, Bergman No. 4 pistol

In 1896, Bergman was a productive man, and the No. 4 pistol was developed in this year:

The No. 4 Bergman pistol only increased the caliber from the No. 3's 6.5 mm to 8 mm, and the others were the same. Here are the 8x22 mm bullets it uses:

The Bergman No. 4 pistol was 255 mm long and had a barrel length of 114 mm, exactly the same as the No. 3 pistol, but due to the increased caliber, the full gun weight increased to 950 grams.

6, Bergman No. 5 pistol

In 1897, the Bergman pistol produced the No. 5 pistol. This type of pistol has a leapfrog innovation with the previous pistols, and its biggest difference is that the original fixed magazine is changed to a movable magazine. Please take a look at the picture:

In addition to the change in the way the ammunition is supplied, another change is the caliber, the 5 Bergman using a 7.8x25 mm bullet. That's it:

It is worth mentioning that the later Mauser 7.63x25 mm bullet was successfully imitated according to this bullet.

Bergman pistols No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 are all free bolt type, starting with Bergman No. 5, and the automatic mode is changed to barrel short recoil type.

Many pistols at that time had cassette holsters for shoulder-to-shoulder shooting, and Bergman was no exception.

The long barrel type of the No. 5 Bergman pistol, with a barrel of 343 mm. Mauser also had such carbines in his early days, and it is not known who influenced whom.

7, Bergman 1899 style

As shown in the figure:

It was a transitional pistol that was said to have been produced and terminated after only two were produced, and I did not find any other information about the gun.

8, Bergman No. 6 pistol

In 1910, a simplified Bergman pistol was developed. For this gun, some sources say it is a No. 6 pistol, some say it is a simple pistol, and it is right to call it a No. 6 pistol.

For example, models with longer magazines:

Does this long magazine of Bergman look like a miniature twenty-shot box cannon? Please note, however, that this is a semi-automatic pistol and cannot be fired consecutively.

9, Bergman Mars pistol

In 1903, the Bergman pistol, known as Mars, was introduced.

This was the more successful Bergmann pistol, which had been ordered by the armies of several countries, but the Germans still did not adopt it.

10, Borgman Bayard pistol exclusively for Spain

In 1908, the Spaniards ordered 3,000 Martian pistols from the Bergman Company. At the request of the Spaniards, the original guns were improved, and the improved guns were called Borgman Bayard pistols.

The prototype German Mars pistol is 4 right-handed rifling lines, and the Beyard pistol is 6 left-handed rifling lines. From the outside, the barrel and grip of the gun are different from the prototype.

The gun has a caliber of 9 mm and is supplied with 6 rounds of magazines. Fires 9x23 mm Lago pistol cartridges. In Spain, it is also known as the 9 mm Lago pistol.

The Bayard pistol was equipped with the Spanish army from 1908 until 1939.

11, exclusive to the Danish Bergman M1910 pistol

In 1910, Denmark ordered 4840 Martian pistols from Bergman. Compared with the Bayard pistols supplied to Spain, this batch of Danish contract pistols has been improved, known as the m1910 pistol.

Compared with the M1908 Bayard pistol, from the appearance, one is that the grip is different, and the other is that there is an extra semi-circular finger cut on the magazine socket, and the other cannot see much difference, and in fact, there is not much difference.

12, Denmark improved m1910/21

After the First World War, Denmark wanted to continue to order the m1910, but the manufacturer at this time could not provide it, so Denmark had to produce it itself. Production began in 1921, and there were improvements during production, so it was called the M1910/21 pistol.

Take a look at its holster:

It's complicated enough.

The pistol was in service in the Danish Army until 1946.

13, 1920 type experimental Bergman pistol

Look at the picture:

The Bergman pistols of non-famous pistols are various

Does this gun at first glance look like a twenty-shot Mauser pistol? Adjustable gauges, front plugs, all a bit like.

This type of Bergman pistol was an unsuccessful attempt, no more information and pictures were found, only that it was semi-automatic, with a magazine capacity of 15 rounds, and other unknowns.

14, Bergman's alternative modification

During the Warsaw Uprising, the rebels modified the M1910/21, lengthening the barrel and magazine, and adding fast and slow machines into submachine pistols or miniature submachine guns.

The above types of Borgman look a bit like a Mauser barge gun from a distance, but at least the appearance is simpler than the shell gun. Unfortunately, the military did not buy much of Bergman's series of pistols, so the production was not large, and the combat performance was not known.
