He Tingyi was born in 1915 in Changting County, Fujian Province, studied private school for several years, joined the revolution at the age of 13, and became a member of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.
At the age of 17, He Tingyi led the Tingzhou Workers' Model Young Pioneers to join the Young Communist International Division, became a staff officer of the Headquarters of the Young Communist International Division, and participated in the 25,000-mile Long March.
Speaking of which, among the staff officers of the International Division of the Young Communist Party, He Tingyi was relatively cultured, so he quickly stood out among the troops.
In the first battle of the Long March, the International Division of the Young Communists encountered the troops of the Kuomintang army Zhou Zhiqun at Nakou in northern Fujian, and a fierce battle was fought. He Ting was ordered to lead a squad to engage a company of the enemy.
In the face of the bad situation, He Tingyi was sober-minded, well-planned, and resolute, until the end of the battle, there was not a single casualty in the whole class, and he achieved the good result of annihilating 84 enemy troops!
After Zhou Enlai heard about He Tingyi's fighting deeds, he specially called Xiao Hua and said, "He Tingyi, this little Red Army, is really good!" Praise, you must cultivate well! ”
Later, He Tingyi continued to train himself in battle, and his experience in fighting became more and more abundant, and many chiefs personally took him and taught him.
In May 1935, He Tingyi followed Lin Biao and Zuo Quan to the Dadu River to reconnoiter the enemy's situation, and unfortunate things happened, his legs encountered the enemy's cold guns, and he immediately bled into blood.
Lin Biao still had the next terrain to inspect, so he handed over to the hygienist to properly handle He Tingyi's injury.
After untying He Tingyi's leggings, the hygienist found that the bullet was embedded in the meat and had to be removed. But at that time, there was no anesthesia, no tools, no surgery, what to do? In desperation, the hygienist told He Tingyi the truth, and as soon as He Ting was in a hurry to catch up with the troops, he said to the hygienist: "I am not afraid of pain, you can just dig it!" ”
The hygienist thought that he did not say it clearly, so he said it again, clearly saying that there is no anesthesia now, He Tingyi smiled proudly: "I know, isn't there no anesthetic?" Cut it, I promise not to scream a pain! ”
The hygienist used a dagger to cut open He Tingyi's skin and flesh and took out the bullet. In the process, He Tingyi was sweating profusely in pain, but he didn't scream from beginning to end!
Because the injury was too serious, He Ting could not keep up with the team, and Chen Qihan, who was in charge of the containment work, reported the matter to Lin Biao, Nie Rongzhen and Zuo Quan. Lin Biao said, "Xiao He is a good seedling, but he can't throw it away, he must take it with him." Nie Rongzhen also said, "He Tingyi wants to take it, and he must not fall behind, talent is rare." ”
Zuo Quan then transferred a horse from the army and gave it to He Tingyi to use. In this way, under the care of the commanders of the regiment, He Tingyi followed the troops to Yan'an with difficulty.
In order to strengthen the leadership of the Air Force and speed up the pace of construction, Chairman Mao asked Premier Zhou to select generals to assist Liu Yalou in creating an air force.
Premier Zhou first thought of He Tingyi, young, educated, energetic, and experienced in combat. After the nomination was sent to Chairman Mao, Chairman Mao also nodded, saying that He Ting would be suitable as soon as he went.
In this way, He Tingyi went to the Air Force and followed Liu Yalou to start the creation of the Air Force.
As many people know, Chairman Mao rarely took a plane in his life, and his travel was basically by train. In fact, Chairman Mao wanted to take a plane very early, but considering that the new China's air force had just been formed and safety had not yet been guaranteed, the central authorities had not approved it.
It was not until 1956 that Chairman Mao took a special plane for the first time, and it was Liu Yalou who was in command, and he Tingyi was specifically responsible.
In order to ensure the absolute safety of Chairman Mao's special plane, before each take-off, He Tingyi personally presided over the air test flight, inspected the engine of the plane and all the equipment on the plane, and had to be confirmed by him before it could take off.
Chairman Mao's special planes generally had three, the first led by He Tingyi, who was responsible for observing the weather in front, Chairman Mao took the second, the third was staff, and each plane took off at an interval of 15 minutes.
However, there were unexpected storms in the sky, and the first time Chairman Mao took a special plane, there was a dangerous situation!
When the plane flew over Hebei, it suddenly flashed and thundered, and it rained heavily, and if it was struck by lightning, it was likely to be destroyed and killed! What's more, due to the powerful lightning interference, the radio communication on the plane completely failed, and the crew was lost to the ground for nearly an hour!
Fortunately, He Ting was not in danger, calmly commanded, commanded the plane to bypass the clouds, and successfully escaped from danger!
When the plane landed, Liu Yalou, who came to pick him up, shook Chairman Mao's hand and said, "Chairman, my head is tucked into the waistband of my pants!" ”
Chairman Mao laughed and said, "What are you afraid of?" Isn't there a small plane in front of you? ”
This flight made Chairman Mao have a very good impression of He Tingyi, who has always been in charge of Chairman Mao's special plane and has never made a mistake.
During the special period of ten years, He Tingyi was wrongly criticized and even arrested and imprisoned, until October 1975, after being nominated by Deng Xiaoping, He Tingyi re-emerged from the mountains and served as deputy commander of the Air Force, making great contributions to the reorganization of the Air Force.
On November 29, 2007, Major General He Tingyi died of illness at the age of 92.
