Emperor Yizong of Tang, seventeen emperors of the Tang Dynasty, was also the fourth emperor from the bottom of the Tang Dynasty. His life was profligate, and the newly restored national strength of the previous emperors was squandered, so that the subsequent emperors could not return to heaven. Tang Yizong's profligacy was reflected in the following aspects:
One: Tang Yizong Li Yi in the palace is a small feast a day, a big feast in three days, these three days a big feast is not enough, in addition to drinking is not happy, but also have music to help, Tang Yizong Li Yi palace raised more than 500 musicians, specially for him to play music. He drank and had a great deal of fun, and he rewarded the musicians greatly when he listened to the musicians.
Two: After spending enough time in the palace and drinking enough, he began to think about going out to play. According to the Zizhi Tongjian, every time Tang Yizong traveled, there were as many as 100,000 people inside and outside the palace, and the cost was difficult to calculate, which had become a heavy burden on the state finances.
Three: Tang Yizong Li Yi believed in Buddhism, built monasteries, built Buddha statues, and gave money widely, and once spent a lot of financial and material resources to welcome back the bones of the Buddha.
Fourth: Tang Yizong was very fond of Princess Tongchang. On the day of the princess's marriage, the dowry is even more indescribable, not to mention the gold and silver treasures, and the rare treasures are countless, almost sending out the entire national treasury.
In addition to profligacy, Tang Yizong also abused officials indiscriminately. During his reign, a total of twenty-one prime ministers were appointed. These prime ministers are either idle people or people who love money as much as life and are unbearable. The residents of Chang'an City compiled a song and ballad with the names of several of the prime ministers, including Cao Qing, Yang Shuo, Xu Shang, and Lu Yan: "Surely, no matter what happens, money and wealth are always collected, and the merchants do not care, when will the goods (road) be closed?" The corpse of the prime minister was vegetarian, corrupt and degenerate, and the crisis of the Tang Dynasty's rule was further aggravated.
The country governed by Tang Yizong was lucky not to be usurped, but the foundation of datang had been dug up by him and was powerless to return to heaven, and the death of data was inevitable.
