During the war years, many heroes emerged on the land of China, for the sake of faith, for the great cause of the motherland, for the happiness of the people, they fought in blood on the battlefield, went forward to succeed each other, and sacrificed their lives and forgot their deaths; they were eternal heroes in the hearts of the country and the people, in addition to the heroes who fought on the battlefield, there was also such a group of people, they fought on the hidden front, they had a common name ~ red agent.
Outstanding representative of the Red Agents
They are willing to "hide their names" and risk exposure at any time to penetrate into the enemy's interior, thus gathering important intelligence for our army. During the War between the Kuomintang and the Communists, it was precisely because of their existence that our army was able to know itself and the other and win the final victory.
During the Kuomintang-Communist War, many outstanding red agents emerged in our army. For example, the founding general Li Kenong, (to know that Li Kenong has never been on the battlefield, can be awarded the rank of general, which shows the importance of underground work), the protagonist we are talking about today is also an outstanding underground worker, he was praised by Mao Zedong as "one person can top several divisions". He is Xiong Xianghui, the outstanding representative of the Red Agent!
Xiong Xianghui
In the winter of 1961, 11-year-old Xiong Lei followed her parents to the Diaoyutai Hotel, where they met Premier Zhou Enlai. Zhou Enlai stepped forward and asked Xiong Lei kindly, "What is your father's name?" Xiong Lei replied with wide eyes, "You certainly don't know each other." Premier Zhou said, "You might as well say it and see!" Xiong Lei said, "His last name is Xiong. Zhou Enlai said meaningfully: "Oh! Xiong Xianghui! I know him! ”
Young Xiong Lei was stunned, how could Premier Zhou know his father! In Xiong Lei's eyes, his father was an ordinary person, and at home, his father never mentioned the past. Until 1981, when 31-year-old Xiong Lei graduated from the Journalism Department of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, she was about to become a reporter for Xinhua News Agency. So she spent three days conducting an "interview" with her father, at which point she discovered that her father was really not ordinary.

The time came to January 1938. Hu Zongnan, a senior Kuomintang general known as the "first protégé of Tianzi," interviewed a group of young people from prestigious universities, from whom he wanted to select some talented young talents and cultivate them for his own use in the future. Hu Zongnan personally interviewed, according to their performance, Hu Zongnan drew a circle under the general performance of the name, good performance to draw two circles, excellent performance to draw three circles, but there is a person, Hu Zongnan drew four circles under his name, his name is Xiong Xianghui.
At this time, Xiong Xianghui was 19 years old, a high-achieving student of Tsinghua University, and was admitted to Tsinghua University at the age of 17, and with this result alone, he had the capital to be highly regarded, and Xiong Xianghui not only had excellent results, but also had extraordinary temperament. Hu Zongnan described him as "young and handsome, talented and outstanding"! Hu Zongnan is a person who loves talents, how can he not like such a young talent! However, what Hu Zongnan did not know was that the real identity of the young man who looked very immature in front of him was a Communist Party member, and his task was to lurk beside Hu Zongnan!

After Xiong Xianghui passed the "interview," Dong Biwu sent him eight words on behalf of Zhou Enlai, "Don't go into the tiger's den to get the tiger." Xiong Xianghui relied on his outstanding talents to gain a firm foothold around Hu Zongnan, and he became Hu Zongnan's close confidant and became Hu Zongnan's confidential secretary. "Confidential secretary", as the name suggests, is all the confidential documents and information in southern Huzong, and Xiong Xianghui can know in advance. It is also this special identity that has played a crucial role in many life-and-death moments for our army.
In 1943, Chiang Kai-shek secretly telegraphed Hu Zongnan to attack Yan'an. What Hu Zongnan did not expect was that before he could send troops, he received a telegram from Zhu De, in which Zhu De accused him of "undermining the great cause of joint anti-Japanese unity" and making the matter public, and the plot to blitz Yan'an had to be shelved.

Although the plot was revealed, the telegram from Yan'an surprised Hu Zongnan. Because the military operations they were plotting were absolutely confidential, he had expected to send troops on July 9, but he did not expect that on July 4, before he could line up his troops, the plot was revealed. Obviously, someone had leaked the secret, and the person who leaked the secret was in the confidential department, because others did not have access to this high-level secret.
At this time, Xiong Xianghui was uneasy in his heart, because the secret was leaked by himself, and it was not an exaggeration to say that his life and death were only in an instant. At this critical juncture, he showed unusual calmness, and he took the initiative to ask Hu Zongnan to thoroughly investigate all the personnel of the confidential department, including himself. Because of his composure and calmness, he coped properly, and finally he "passed" safely.
Xiong Xianghui and his wife
But once, the cautious and alert Xiong Xianghui had to take a risky move. In March 1947, Xiong Xianghui, who was locked up on his honeymoon, was urgently recalled. It turned out that Chiang Kai-shek once again plotted to attack Yan'an, and after Xiong Xianghui quickly transmitted intelligence to the Party Central Committee, he learned of a more critical situation, and the Kuomintang used the most advanced radio detection technology in the United States to try to find out the location of the head organ of the CPC Central Committee.
Due to the tight time, he did not have time to send the intelligence out according to the rules, Xiong Xianghui directly wrote the intelligence in black and white on the paper, sealed it in an envelope, and entrusted Hu Zongnan's confidential traffic officer to send it to an intermediary. He is not unaware that if any of these links go wrong, he will lose his head, but it is a matter of the safety of the Party Central Committee, and Xiong Xianghui cannot care so much at all. In the end, the intelligence was safely sent to the party organization, and the party Central Committee took timely countermeasures to once again turn the danger into a disaster.
Lurking for 13 years, he sent out intelligence again and again, the life of lurking is lonely and dark, although he faces the danger of exposing his identity, he finally achieved himself with his tenacious perseverance and outstanding talent, and also achieved the intelligence work of the Communist Party of that era! Therefore, Mao Zedong praised him as "one person can top several divisions"!
13 years of lurking career, so that this calm and courageous "red spy" also has times to hold back tears. In 1943, after the Kuomintang blitzkrieg yan'an plot was broken, in order to stop the outbreak of civil war and promote the unity of the Kuomintang and the Communists in the War of Resistance, Zhou Enlai came to Xi'an, Hu Zongnan specially invited, it was Xiong Xianghui who came to pick up Zhou Enlai to the banquet, Zhou Enlai asked what the young secretary's name was, Xiong Xianghui answered truthfully, Zhou Enlai immediately clasped his hands, after the banquet, Zhou Enlai quietly said, "In the past few years, you have worked hard." Xiong Xianghui burst into tears in an instant. The organization has not forgotten him, the country and the people have not forgotten him, at this moment, he feels that everything he has done is so worthwhile, so proud!
A month after the founding of New China, Zhou Enlai set up a banquet to invite Zhang Zhizhong's former Kuomintang peace negotiators, and when these Kuomintang officers saw Xiong Xianghui, who was attending the banquet, they were surprised and said, "Brother Xiong, you have also revolted. Zhou Enlai said meaningfully, "He is not an uprising, he is returning to the army."
In 1949, Xiong Xianghui returned to his homeland after obtaining a master's degree in the United States. After the founding of New China, Xiong Xianghui served as deputy director of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, began his diplomatic career of more than two decades, and was Zhou Enlai's right-hand man in diplomatic work.
It's gold that shines everywhere! When you go undercover, you can listen to thunder in the silence, and you are just as good as when you are a diplomatic ambassador. In 1973, he successfully facilitated President Echevirlia's visit to China and personally accompanied him throughout the tour. In addition, Xiong Xianghui also served as chargé d'affaires to the United Kingdom and the first ambassador to Mexico, making outstanding contributions to the diplomatic cause of New China.

According to Xiong Xianghui's daughter Xiong Lei, her father was frank and easy-going in his later years, liked to wear new clothes, and liked to eat sweets. Those thrilling pasts are "hidden" in the depths of time. In September 2005, Xiong Xianghui died of illness in Beijing at the age of 86.
Xiong Xianghui's life is full of legends! Whether in times of war or peace, he has made indelible contributions to the country! Compared to those red agents who sacrificed before dawn, his ending was also happy!
The hidden front, a battlefield without smoke of gunfire, for the sake of faith and mission, how many communists hide themselves. But their names will never be hidden by the smoke and dust of history!
