On November 18, Beijing time, the NBA officially updated this week's rookie list. The Raptors' No. 4 show Barnes returned to the top of the table, and The injured-plagued Mobley fell to second. Cunningham continued to rise, from seventh last week to fifth this week, while Green fell to eighth.
Let's take a look at the specific rankings (player stats as of November 16) –
1. Scotty Barnes, Raptors (2nd last week)
Season average: 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game
Average in the last 7 days: 15.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists
Barnes performed better on the road (19.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 54.2 percent shooting) than at home. Nets coach Nash praised Barnes for influencing the game in many ways and considered his ceiling high. Barkley predicted that the No. 4 show had locked up the Newcomer of the Year award.
2. Evan Mobley, Cavaliers (1st last week)
Season average: 14.6 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game
Averages in the last 7 days: 13.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists
In the first 14 games, Mobley completed a stat that James did not complete in the same period. He became the fastest rookie in Cavaliers history to reach 200 points and 100 rebounds. However, he is also plagued by injuries, and an elbow sprain is expected to sideline him for 2-4 weeks, which will affect his impact on the rookie award and may also affect the Cavaliers' record.
3. Franz Wagner, Magic (4th of last week)
Season average: 13.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game
Averages in the last 7 days: 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists
Wagner's draft pick is not as good as the team's Sagas, but he is better than Sagas. The data shows that his playing time, shooting, scoring, rebounding and even steals data are higher than Sargas, at least at this stage, his performance is more satisfactory to the Magic coaching staff.
4. Josh Gidy, Thunder (5th last week)
Season average: 9.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.2 assists
Averages in the last 7 days: 6.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists
Gidey's passing and rebounding abilities stand out, and the tall defender currently has only one glaring flaw. He has yet to find the feel, and in the past week, Gidy shot 11 of 38 from the field and only 4-of-16 from three-point range.
5. Cade Cunningham, Pistons (7th last week)
Season average: 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists
Averages in the last 7 days: 16.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists
As a champion, Cunningham finally entered the top five for the first time. He's been playing better and better. Against the Kings, he had 25 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, hitting five three-pointers. He became the second rookie to play these numbers after Curry, Trae Young and Kidd. An ankle injury still bothers him a bit, but he should get better as the season progresses.
