On October 30, 2018, the 94-year-old martial arts novelist Jin Yong passed away in Hong Kong.
Born in March 1924 in Haining, Zhejiang Province, and later moved to Hong Kong, Jin Yong is the most outstanding representative writer of the new school of martial arts novels, a famous political commentator, entrepreneur and newspaperman in Hong Kong, and is known as the "Four Talents of Hong Kong" together with Huang Zhan, Cai Lan and Ni Kuang.
From the late 1950s to the early 1970s, Jin Yong wrote a total of 15 wuxia novels, taking the first character of the title of 14 of them, which can be summarized as "flying snow shooting white deer in the sky, laughing book god hero leaning on bi duck", plus a "Yue Female Sword". "Wherever there are Chinese, there must be Jin Yong's martial arts novels."
One thing can be crazy teenager
When speaking publicly, Jin Yong's euphemisms are all-encompassing. He once said that if he chose a role in his novel, he would like to be duan yu in "Tianlong Babu", "He does not have the hegemony of suppressing people, and there is always room for people." Therefore, Jin Yong always said to the world's reputation, "Don't dare to be, don't dare to be." When commenting on others, he also politely said that "Mr. So-and-so's works are also good." Even if Li Ao scolded him for being "hypocritical", he did not pay much attention to it, only saying: "Criticize me for not learning, then I approve." ”
Liu shenlei, a well-known self-media person who has studied Jin Yong for many years, summed up such behavior as "habitual humility". He felt that the old man's heart "actually felt that he was very well written." This evaluation is not for no reason, and the stubbornness in Jin Yong's bones has been traced as early as his youth.
In September 1941, Jin Yong, who was still in high school, published an article in the supplement of Zhejiang's Southeast Daily, saying that one of his friends had been taught a lesson by the director of training, and finally the director of training said: "You are so crazy!" He wrote in the article, "Madness and youth seem inseparable. Sure, this can be a big mess, but the beginning is not a factor in some great cause. I would like to say this arbitrarily: To achieve a great cause, a little madness is necessary. The title of the article is called "A Teenager Who Can Be Crazy about One Thing", and the friend mentioned does not know whether he really has his own person or whether he has adapted his own experience. Because more than a year ago, he himself had just been expelled for writing an article in the high school poster ridiculing the director of training, and had to change to another high school.
Chen Xiangping, then editor-in-chief of the supplement, took advantage of a business trip to see the author who signed "Charlie". To his surprise, "Charlie" was only a sophomore in high school, and although he was skinny, he was "quite a scholarly person".
Charlie's ideal was to be a diplomat. After graduation, he was admitted to a university in Chongqing to study diplomacy, but was again expelled for his bold and outspoken words. He once said in an interview with Lu Yu: "My personality is free and loose, when diplomats are much more disciplined than ordinary people, a friend of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told me, your personality, tomorrow after coming in, you will be expelled." ”
So fate took him in another direction of life.
"Jin Yong" was born, and the sword walked the Xiangjiang River
1955 was the seventh year that 32-year-old Cha had joined Hong Kong's Ta Kung Pao. One day, Rover, the editor-in-chief of the supplement, found him and said that Liang Yusheng's "The Legend of the Grass Mang Dragon and Snake" was almost finished, and he had not yet thought about what to write next, "Xiao Cha, only you are on top." ”
When the day of the manuscript came, the editor sent an old co-worker to his home to wait for the manuscript. He looked at the old worker, came to inspiration, and wrote from an old man on the saiwai ancient road: "Nearly sixty years old, with white eyebrows, but the divine light is contained and full of energy."
This is the beginning of the novel "Book of Swords and Enmity", and it is also the beginning of the myth of Jin Yong's martial arts. In the story, the Haining tide in the hometown is like a thousand horses rushing and rolling, the personable Chen Jialuo makes people feel as if they have seen Xu Zhimo, and the name of Chen Mother "Xu Huilu" and Jin Yong's mother "Xu Lu" are only one word apart, and Qianlong's confusing life also comes from the legend of the villagers when he was a child. When he signed his name, he split the last word of his name into two and wrote: Jin Yong. Since then, Jin Yong has turned out to be a world.
If the first novel is inadvertently inserted, Guo Jing is a character carefully shaped by Jin Yong. "Jin Yong in that period was very similar to Guo Jing." Liu ShenLeilei wrote, "Guo Jing's mission is to open up territory for Jin Yong's divine kingdom and be the first national hero of the new martial arts novel. ”
In the era when Jin Yong was born, warlords were in scuffles and military disasters were continuous. In 1937, the beacon fire of the August 13 Incident burned to Jiangnan, and after 600 years of endless books, the Zha family also fell. Around 1938, the 14-year-old Jin Yong went into exile with the school. On the way, principal Zhang Yintong carried a small blackboard with him, walked to a safe place, and as soon as the straw was laid, he gave them a lesson, "As long as I am Zhang Yintong, I will be responsible for the students and stick to the end!" In addition to the pain of his homeland, in his novels, he also wrote about his thoughts about his mother and brother who died in the war. In the novel, many stories take place on the occasion of Yi Dai, and he throws his brushstrokes at the suffering brought by the turbulent times. Looking back in his later years, Jin Yong said that when he wrote Guo Jing, he did not know much about literature, which was a kind of shaping of the ideal personality. For the definition and understanding of the word "hero", he felt that it had been written very clearly in "The Hero of the Eagle"--"The great hero is for the country and the people." ”
Novels that people are obsessed with reading are, for him, "just a side hustle." His main business was running newspapers. In 1959, he founded Ming Pao. In the past thirty-three years, Jin Yong has personally written more than 7,000 editorials, proposing the ideal of "justice and kindness". Some people even said that to eliminate five Hong Kong people, the second place is Jin Yong.
During the most dangerous period, Jin Yong also went to Europe to hide for a month. The serial "Tianlong Eight Parts" had to find Ni Kuang to ghostwrite. A month later, Jin Yong returned to Hong Kong. Ni Kuang said to him, "Sorry sorry, I hate Ah Zi, so I wrote her eyes blind." ”
In the book, the Orthodox Church lives and dies, and the reality is so difficult
When Ming Pao was founded, the newspaper circulated less than 6,000 copies a day, and the newspaper often failed to pay its salary. An old clerk recalled: "Mr. Cha was really miserable at that time, tired of work in the afternoon, called a cup of coffee, and drank it with Zha Tai. This "Zha Tai" is Jin Yong's second wife, Zhu Mei. When you leave the newsroom, it's usually two or three o'clock in the morning. The "Star Ferry" ferry from Central to Tsim Sha Tsui has long been suspended, so it has to take another kind of "electric boat boy", and it is necessary to wait for six people to sail. If it is opened immediately, the charter fee is three yuan. "The couple would rather wait by the cool wind of the night than charter a boat to cross the sea."
Zhu Mei, who graduated from the University of Hong Kong, was 11 years younger than Jin Yong, the only reporter in the early days of Ming Pao, and like Huang Rong assisting Guo Jing, she has always supported her husband's career. After that, she gave birth to four children and accompanied Jin Yong through a 20-year marriage.
The female writer Sanmao once said that the special feature of Jin Yong's novel is that it writes a "love" word that human beings still cannot understand, which can make people go to heaven and can make people go to hell. Writer Ma Boyong felt that the most subtle, the most obscure, and the most lamentable thing was that the exterminator Shi Tai told Zhang Wuji that her master Guo Xiang's apprentice was called Fengling Shi Tai. Fengling Ferry is exactly where Guo Xiang and Yang Guo first met. In the interpretation of the Six Gods Leilei, Guo Xiang saw through the Wind Lingdu, from sixteen to forty years old, it took twenty-four years. Zhang Sanfeng put down the iron luohan, but it took a hundred years. He wrote:
The bamboo door pushed open, and Zhang Sanfeng slowly stepped out. The young boy of that year is now white-browed. At this moment, there is a new set of martial arts in the world, called "Taijiquan".
After entering the small courtyard, Zhang Sanfeng did one thing: he felt a pair of iron luohan from his side and handed it to his apprentice Yu Daiyan. Finally, for the first time in so many years, he let it go. At this moment, his tone was plain and gentle: this pair of iron luohan was given to me by Guo Xiangguo a hundred years ago. You will send it back to the Shaolin descendants in the future.
Probably, no one who sees such feelings will not be moved. Jin Yong once said in an interview that the ideal love should be to love only one person in a lifetime, such as Li Mo's shocking sentence, "Ask the world, what is love?" Orthodox people are born and die. But in the face of real life experiences, he only said four words: but they are all very difficult.
In 1976, Jin Yong and Zhu Mei divorced. Later, he married his third wife, Lin Leyi, until the last moment of his life. For Zhu Mei, Jin Yong, who does not like to talk about personal affairs, has repeatedly expressed his guilt for her in public.
People can't help themselves in the jianghu
Someone once asked him, how should life be spent? The old man replied, "Make a big fuss and quietly leave." ”
His addiction in the jianghu is difficult to achieve the unity of knowledge and action in reality, but Jin Yong still has no honesty. "I don't want my property at all, I can't do it; I don't want my wife and children, I can't do it; I don't want fame and fortune, and I can't do it."
At the age of 81, he also went to Cambridge to study, and became the Mr. Cha who was not much concerned by others. No longer the aura of a well-known writer, no longer the dean of the School of Humanities at Zhejiang University, he carries a backpack full of textbooks. He also said: "My surname is Cha, and my pen name is Jin Yong, so I want to grasp this 'Cha' word myself, study harder, and dissolve this 'Yong' word." ”
The students wanted to take pictures and sign autographs with Jin Yong, and Jin Yong said, "I am now a student, not a writer." When I'm not a student, I'll sit down with you to eat and drink tea. ”
A person's life, why can't it be a martial arts novel, the first half of life indulged in wanton, free and arrogant, the second half of life with awe, there is a heart to continue to learn. Just like the life of Cha Daxia, it is respectable and lamentable.
Jin Yong hero, don't go over here.
Opening the Tianlong again today, the jianghu in the book is still so fascinating, but the creator of the jianghu is long gone, and the unbridled starry sky seems to be missing something.
Perhaps, that Jin Yong hero went to that martial arts world to inject soul into that world.
The rivers and lakes are so big that there is no chance to meet, so don't go over it!
