Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission officially approved the "Chengdu Metropolitan Area Development Plan" (hereinafter referred to as the "Planning"). The "Plan" clearly states that in the area with Chengdu as the center and covering a total of 30 million people in Deyang, Meishan and Ziyang, accelerate the construction of a modern metropolitan circle with national influence.

According to the reply, the "Planning" will be used as a programmatic document to guide the high-quality development of the Chengdu metropolitan area at present and in the coming period, with a planning period of 2025 and a long-term outlook to 2035.

In terms of specific construction, the National Development and Reform Commission requires that Sichuan fully implement the overall deployment of the construction of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, give full play to the radiation and driving role of Chengdu and the advantages of Deyang, Meishan and Ziyang, and promote the integration and development of the same city. In particular, it is necessary to comprehensively promote infrastructure interconnection, modern industrial cooperation and co-prosperity, opening up to the outside world, convenient sharing of public services, and co-protection and co-governance of the ecological environment.

In terms of implementation mechanism, Sichuan Province should make overall plans to guide the implementation of the plan, and Chengdu and other cities in the metropolitan area are the responsible subjects for the construction of the Chengdu metropolitan area, responsible for coordinating the implementation of the plan, jointly preparing special plans, and jointly formulating annual plans and project implementation.
