In August 2017, Fan Jiangtao reached the summit of Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, at an altitude of 5642 meters.

Endless climbing, the Hunan mountaineering team has an "adventure" dream

In October this year, Xu Zhuoyuan topped Otana.

In the hearts of many people, mountaineering is a challenging and adventurous sport.

Recently, with 43 years of unremitting persistence and love, Xia Boyu, a legless mountaineer in China, relied on a pair of prosthetic limbs to climb Mount Everest 5 times and finally succeeded in the movie "Endless Climbing" in Changsha. At the end of the movie, the 11 members of the Hunan Provincial Mountaineering Team, who had only completed the assembly two months ago, burst into tears. The road ahead is long, and like their predecessors, they have dreams in their hearts, eager to climb to the top of the world and touch the floating clouds and glaciers.

There is a mountain road under the feet, the peak is hidden in the heart, to complete this dream, this group of dreamers need to constantly "cultivate" skills, all the way to "fight monsters and upgrade".

On November 29, the reporter interviewed the mountaineering team to talk about their dream and ultimate goal - to climb the highest peaks on seven continents and hike north and south poles.

challenge

Climbing the highest peaks on three continents, this leader is too "wave"

"Mountaineering has brought me not only wonderful scenery and exciting adventures, but also a sense of personal accomplishment, extreme experience of willpower and endurance, leadership and logical thinking skills in peacetime." The 37-year-old Fan Jiangtao has multiple identities, he is the chairman of a technology company, the vice chairman of the provincial mountaineering association, the leader of the provincial mountaineering team, has won the national top 100 outdoor team leader award, but also won the national electronic innovation and entrepreneurship competition award.

Entering the outdoor circle in 2009, Fan Jiangtao has been exploring this outdoor field that looks "low threshold" and has high requirements for practical professionalism for more than 10 years. Since 2016, Fan Jiangtao has climbed the highest peak on three continents - Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa at an altitude of 5895 meters, to feel the change of the four seasons; Touch the floating clouds and snow on Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe at 5,642 meters above sea level; Climb to the top of Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America at an altitude of 6,962 meters, and look out at the distant mountains and the sea of clouds steaming...

"When I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, I was so excited that I pulled my African guide to stand in the wind and talk for more than an hour, blowing the wind and basking in the sun, and the high reaction came." Getting lost, altitude sickness, losing temperature... After experiencing the dangers of mountain climbing that may be encountered, Fan Jiangtao concluded one by one - "I blame myself for being too 'waves'." ”

11 out of 300 people were selected

The goal is to climb the highest peaks on seven continents and hike north and south poles

With the support of the Hunan Provincial Sports Federation, Fan Jiangtao led business executives, lawyers, students, deans of university colleges, freelancers... It will be officially assembled in September 2021. "At the end of 2020, the provincial mountaineering team was established. In April 2021, we started recruiting for our team, and 300 people submitted resumes one after another. After four rounds of screening, such as interviews, skills, and snow mountain climbing, the provincial mountaineering team finally accepted 11 team members in September this year, with an age span from 15 to 54 years old, "At present, all team members have experience in climbing peaks above 6,000 meters above sea level, and most of the team members have climbed peaks above 7,000 meters above sea level." ”

Now, the members of the provincial mountaineering team need to take a physical test once a month, including 10 kilometers in 1 hour, 500 jump ropes in 3 minutes, 240 steps in 5 minutes and so on. "What we need is a comprehensive quality that is balanced in many aspects, not the extreme in a single project." Trapped by the epidemic, the provincial mountaineering team originally planned to launch the entire team of "7+2" ultimate goal mountaineering activities this year, but temporarily failed to make the trip. If the epidemic conditions permit, it is expected that the first climb of Kilimanjaro, where the temperature and environment are more suitable, will begin next year, "the whole team will climb Mount Everest in 2023, and the whole plan will be completed in 2025." ”

Climbing is easy, put on sneakers and you can climb the nearest mountain to your home. Mountaineering is also very bitter, requiring flying over thousands of miles and climbing thousands of glaciers. As the vice chairman of the Provincial Mountaineering Association and the leader of the provincial mountaineering team, Fan Jiangtao shoulders the responsibility of not only bringing out a mountaineering team, "The ultimate goal of the Hunan Provincial Mountaineering Team is not only to climb the highest peaks of the seven continents and hike the North and South Pole points, to do extreme adventure activities, but to let more people understand the outdoor sport of mountaineering and bring the public to a safe mountaineering road." ”

tale

Smallest team member -

The 15-year-old Meng sister wants to climb Mount Everest with her father

"What touched me most in the film was what Xia Boyu's predecessors said, 'Climbing to the top is not the end, going home is'." On the afternoon of November 26, Xu Zhuoyuan, a senior high school student at The Bocai Experimental Middle School of Hunan Normal University, deliberately took a leave of absence to watch the movie at the Changsha roadshow of the movie "Endless Climbing". Xu Zhuoyuan, who wears a ponytail, has a soft voice, likes Hanfu, and has a beautiful and gentle appearance, has another identity - a member of the Hunan Provincial Mountaineering Team. In late October, she reached the summit of Otana Peak at an altitude of 5210 meters, "during that time, she faced midterm exams, did not do much physical training, and had a hard time going down the mountain, and felt very deeply about the sentence in the film." ”

Xu Zhuoyuan is a famous "second generation of households" in Hunan outdoor circles, her parents are outdoor mountaineering enthusiasts, and her father Xu Jianglei is the first person to climb Mount Everest in Hunan. "My father wanted me to be his successor." Since birth, Xu Zhuoyuan has had an indissoluble relationship with mountaineering. In the year of Xu Zhuoyuan's birth, his father successfully reached the top of the world's sixth highest peak, Zhuo Aoyou Peak, and used the word "Zhuo" to make his daughter a "name". Xu Jianglei married at the age of 40, and he believes that his daughter is a gift from heaven and loves her very much. In May 2007, when Xu Zhuoyuan was less than 1 year old, her father successfully climbed Mount Everest and gave her the oxygen cylinder used during the climb as a souvenir. At the age of 2, her birthday present was a torch as her father participated in the 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. At the age of 3, her birthday present was still related to mountaineering – a 300-minute hiking documentary... Zhuo Yuan, who was ignorant, did not understand what mountaineering meant to her father.

In the summer after graduating from primary school, Xu Zhuoyuan had the idea of "walking the road that her father walked". Under the leadership of her parents, Xu Zhuoyuan began a chase against the mountains, which lasted for more than half a month, crossing the Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet lines. "When passing through Aba Prefecture in Sichuan Province, my parents and I climbed the peak of Siguniang Mountain at an altitude of more than 5,000 meters." Xu Zhuoyuan still remembers that on the way down the mountain, when passing a U-shaped curve, a brightly colored snake suddenly came out of the grass, under the "wings" of her parents, she did not feel dangerous when she was young, and the mountaineering brought her a colorful world.

That year, at the base camp of the north slope of Mount Everest, Xu Zhuoyuan firmly believed in one of her wishes - to climb Mount Everest with her father at the age of 18.

Today, joining the provincial mountaineering team is her father's advice and the cornerstone of her realization of her wish, "through planned physical training and testing, I will continue to improve my climbing height until reaching the summit of Mount Everest becomes my rite of passage." ”

Compared with his father Xu Jianglei's enthusiasm for mountaineering, this sport is only one of many hobbies for Xu Zhuoyuan, "I also like equestrianism, golf and skiing. For the future career, Xu Zhuoyuan is also firm, "I will practice medicine and take mountaineering as a side job." ”

Dealing with outdoor emergencies these are the ones you should keep in mind

Recently, four members of the Kunming Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey Center of the China Geological Survey were killed after the disappearance of the Ailao Mountain in Yunnan. Fan Jiangtao, the leader of the provincial mountaineering team, reminded the donkey friends who traveled long distances that there are green mountains and rivers in the wild, and there will also be unexpected thrills.

"Many people feel that there is no threshold for outdoor sports. That's right, step on sneakers and you'll be able to hike up the mountain. However, it is necessary to have professional knowledge and equipment to respond to emergencies and ensure their own safety. Fan Jiangtao said that if you want to spend the night in the wild, you must prepare equipment that can make a fire, in addition to heating, you can also call for help from the outside world through fireworks when you get lost. When the temperature difference between day and night is relatively large, it is necessary to prepare insulation blankets and coal stoves.

For outdoor mountaineering, Fan Jiangtao thoughtfully put forward a few suggestions for donkey friends:

First, don't be careless and be vigilant. To fear nature is also to protect oneself.

Second, we must be prepared to deal with various environments and not act rashly. Before climbing, anticipate and master the terrain. Even if you have a map or GPS navigation in your hand, the terrain will change when the rain washes away the mountain all year round. If you get lost, you can find the right route by prejudgment.

The third is to have a reliable team and organization. Do a good job of dividing labor before going to the destination in groups.

The fourth is to take good care of the family. Mountaineering is a positive and sunny sport, and there can be no conflict with family members by indulging in it.
