Anhui's cotton production and prices have doubled this year

The reporter learned from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission Price And Cost Investigation and Supervision Bureau on December 6 that according to the bureau's survey of 8 major cotton producing areas and 71 agricultural households in our province, the price of cotton production in our province has increased twice this year, and the cash income from cotton planting has been the highest level in the past 5 years.

It is reported that this year, the yield of cotton lint in our province is 79 kg, an increase of 10.24 kg over the previous year's 68.76 kg, an increase of 14.89%. The main reason is that this year,during the cotton planting seedling period and growth period in our province, the weather is better, the rain is less, which is conducive to the growth of cotton, and cotton farmers have strengthened the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests, and the cotton diseases and insect pests have decreased.

This year, cotton sold for a good price. According to statistics, the average selling price of cotton per 50 kilograms in our province is 929.41 yuan, an increase of 232.53 yuan or 33.37% over the previous year's 696.88 yuan. The main reason is the decrease in the supply of cotton in the market. On the one hand, affected by factors such as epidemic control and control, logistics prices have risen sharply, the volume of cotton shipments out of Xinjiang has decreased, and the supply of cotton in the market has decreased; on the other hand, affected by factors such as rising commodity market prices, domestic and foreign cotton prices have risen sharply, and spot prices have hit a new high in 10 years.
