According to statistics, the number of deaths caused by carbon monoxide poisoning is as high as more than 1500 people per year, and if there is no statistics, it is estimated that this number will be even higher. The number of deaths due to carbon monoxide poisoning every year is second only to traffic accidents, and it is not an exaggeration to say that carbon monoxide is the number one killer in the daily life of residents. But even if everyone has heard and witnessed things, why is there no sense of vigilance at all? Why don't you always learn your lesson?
Carbon monoxide is the product of incomplete combustion of carbonaceous substances, the affinity of carbon monoxide and hemoglobin is 200 to 300 times higher than the affinity of oxygen and hemoglobin, so carbon monoxide is very easy to bind to hemoglobin, so that hemoglobin loses the ability and role of oxygen, resulting in tissue suffocation. It has toxic effects on histiocytes throughout the body, especially on the cerebral cortex.
The reason for the successive tragedies is probably that people's understanding of carbon monoxide is not deep enough. As a colorless, odorless, odorless gas, carbon monoxide cannot smell or see, and it is a silent invisible killer. If there is not enough understanding of carbon monoxide or even a wrong understanding, sooner or later this killer will come to the door.
Probably because the term "gas poisoning" is so common, many people mistakenly believe that as long as you don't burn coal or gas, you won't be poisoned. In fact, all carbon-containing combustibles can produce carbon monoxide when they are not fully burned, and the more air is not circulated, the less sufficient it is, and the more carbon monoxide is generated.
Many people think that if the smell of bad gas in the bathing room is carbon monoxide, it is actually petroleum gas. Carbon monoxide has no taste, it doesn't smell at all. It is completely wrong to think that there would be no carbon monoxide poisoning in the house without a foul smell.
In fact, carbon monoxide is insoluble in water, and releasing water will not absorb carbon monoxide at all.
In daily life, in addition to the shower room is prone to carbon monoxide poisoning, what other places to pay attention to? Common scenarios include indoor combustion for heating, running the car engine in the garage for a long time, and even eating hot pot or barbecue indoors, all three scenarios, as long as they are poorly ventilated, are very likely to trigger carbon monoxide poisoning events.
On the night of December 4, 2009, six boarding primary school students from the teaching site in Nanyao Village, Pucheng Town, Pu County, Shanxi Province, suddenly and mysteriously died. At that time, there were rumors that it was a man-made poisoning incident, but the police repeatedly tested and investigated, excluding the possibility of poisoning such as poisonous rat strong, cyanide, organophosphorus poison, etc., until the third day, the cause of death could not be found. Subsequently, the vomit of 6 primary school students was divided into two parts and tested in Taiyuan and Beijing. By the early morning of the 8th, the results of both tests showed that the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning.
At that time, people thought it strange that there was no gas facility in the dormitory and no fire for heating, so why did carbon monoxide poisoning occur? Originally, the dormitory was a large house, separated by wooden planks in the middle, one for students and the other for a 3 kW fuel generator. That night, the generator started to generate electricity, because the middle wooden board was not tightly closed, and the carbon monoxide emitted by the generator work was passed into the student dormitory, resulting in the poisoning and death of the students, which was extremely painful.
From these tragedies, we can find that almost all incidents of carbon monoxide poisoning are caused by poor ventilation. In daily life, we must pay more attention to the use of gas or heating in our homes, and we must often check the ventilation situation when using gas water heaters, and at the same time, we must do a good job of popularizing science for family members, especially the elderly and children. As the main front of safety work, schools must tirelessly instill safety awareness in students and parents, and only by making unremitting efforts can we achieve a long-term alarm bell.
