The poem begins straight in, the poet's attention and love for early spring, a "Qing" word tells the characteristics of the early spring scenery, fresh, clear, and eye-catching.
The second sentence writes the willow writing score to convey the gods, writing spring quietly climbs up the willow branches, the willow buds are still a faint tender yellow, in the eyes of the poet, it is beautiful than the "ten thousand hanging green silk" in the spring, not far away like a pile of smoke, and just "only" yellow, still half "uneven". Willow buds are born, also known as "willow eyes", as if a silent willow tree is awakened by spring and opens its eyes at the beginning.
Yang Juyuan's poem writes the charm of the early spring willow very well, which makes people feel the novelty, cherishing and loving feelings of this fresh scene of early spring.
The first two sentences use the new willow in front of you to write the early spring scenery, only with a few faint strokes to dye, the last two sentences write the imaginary spring scene, flowers bloom like brocade, people are weaving, with the spring scene reflecting the clear scenery in early spring.
This poem can be read in contrast to Han Yu's "Early Spring". Both poems are aimed at the scene that will not be issued in early spring, this poem is Liu Chu Huang, Han Yu poem is grass square green; Han Yu's poem FanChun Jing is represented by "Smoke Willow Man Huang Du", and the poem uses "Shanglin Flowers Like Brocade" as a comparison. Both poems use flourishing spring scenes to contrast the freshness of early spring, which is similar to the same work.

It is worth mentioning that Yang Juyuan, a poet who is not very famous in the eyes of most people today, is the only two more well-known poems of his that are related to willow trees, one is this "Early Spring in the East of the City", and the other is "He Lian Xiu Cai Yang Liu". The latter poem is written to fold willows and say goodbye, the last two sentences are "Only the spring wind is the most sympathetic, and the courtesy is more blown to the hand", and the previous sentence was later used by Wang Anshi's collection of poems "Plum Blossoms", which was collected as "Only the spring wind is the most regrettable, and once a year returns", in contrast, it seems that Wang Anshi's collection of poems is more famous.
