Open the electronic health insurance card of Huang Junting, a fifth-year female student majoring in clinical medicine at Wenzhou Medical University, and there is a striking official love mark for human organ donation next to her name. In Wenzhou, all citizens who have signed the human organ donation intention letter have the same love mark on their electronic health insurance cards.
Such an approach is still unique in China. What led to the pilot project of "organ donation volunteer and electronic medical insurance card wisdom interconnection" in Wenzhou was the "Light of Life Organ Donation Volunteer Service Group" led by Huang Junting and her.
A touch
Strengthen faith in volunteerism
Becoming a doctor is a dream of Wenzhou girl Huang Junting since childhood. In 2017, she was admitted to the clinical medicine major of Wenzhou Medical University as she wished, and opened the road of public welfare - she first worked as a volunteer docent in the human science popularization hall of the school, and joined the school's "Light of Life Organ Donation Volunteer Service Group" in her sophomore year.
During the winter vacation of 2019, a survey of the organ donation coordinator by the team made Huang Junting further strengthen her belief in carrying out organ donation volunteer service. In Changsha, she followed the volunteer coordinator to the home of Ye Sha, a boy who had donated multiple organs after he died of illness. Ye Sha, who was only 16 years old, died of a sudden cerebral hemorrhage and ineffective rescue. After careful consultation, Ye Sha's parents donated their son's organs, and 7 people were reborn because of Ye Sha. Touched by the love of Ye Sha's parents, Huang Junting secretly resolved to bring warmth to more organ donor families through her own efforts.
After returning to Wenzhou, Huang Junting and the members of the group created a stage play based on Ye Sha's story, "One Man's Team". The stage plays have toured and performed in Wenzhou, Ningbo, Hangzhou and other places, and have also been invited to participate in the national organ donation 10th anniversary publicity activities. This attempt made Huang Junting feel the power of public welfare action for the first time - "Our school has a class of 30 people, and after watching the stage play, 27 people signed the organ donation volunteer book." There was even a show where more than 200 people lined up to sign the volunteer letter. Huang Junting said. With this as a starting point, she and her team began to explore the artistic dissemination of organ donation. For example, she edited the "Yesha Xingxing Galaxy" comics, animations, etc., which were promoted to the whole country by the Chinese Organ Donation Management Center; and launched the first "Bethune Cup" organ donation art dissemination theme creation competition for 26 colleges and universities.
11 provinces were surveyed
Find a donation breakthrough
After experiencing many human organ donation publicity activities, Huang Junting found that organ donation is always a taboo and heavy topic for the general public.
In order to find a breakthrough in organ donation, Huang Junting also led the team to investigate in 11 provinces such as Zhejiang, Hunan and Shandong, and visited 10 Red Cross Societies. They found that there was very little information on organ donation based on the family perspective, so they asked the organ donation coordinator to help collect more than 1,000 potential donor family cases. At the same time, the team also distributed more than 2,000 questionnaires at 49 points in Zhejiang. "The results of the questionnaire survey and the collection of more than 1,000 cases show that the impact of family attitudes accounts for 70% of the reasons affecting organ donation of ordinary family members. If they sign up for a donation before they die, 65% of the family members will respect the deceased's wishes. Huang Junting said that one of the breakthroughs in organ donation is to obtain the consent of the family.
Can we voluntarily add organ donation to the electronic social security card, and use the wave of informatization to realize the interconnection of organ donation big data? Huang Junting analyzed that this measure may enhance the willingness of the public to sign the letter of will, and it will also help doctors to find organ donation volunteers at the first time. To this end, she has continuously polished and revised, forming a research report of more than 80,000 words.

Comprehensive grades are the first in the major
In May 2019, Huang Junting went straight to the relevant departments of Wenzhou With research data and innovative ideas. But because there is no precedent in the country, the harvest is more questionable. Breaking the difficulties and resistance faced by tradition has caused many members to retreat. "At the beginning, our team was teamed up to go to the relevant departments, but slowly I was the only one." Huang Junting, who speaks softly and slowly, and is evaluated by her classmates as "gentle in character", is a "reassuring pill" in the team. She constantly encouraged the team to continue to persevere, took the lead in doing 3 surveys, further improved the suggestions, and constantly visited the relevant functional departments of Wenzhou City to win their support.
"If it wasn't for her firm push, our team wouldn't have gone that far." Dai Zhenfeng, a senior who has promoted the project with Huang Junting, told reporters.
In July 2019, the team's efforts finally waited for the "dawn" - taking advantage of the opportunity of Wenzhou to promote the integration of social security cards and electronic health insurance cards, Huang Junting improved the team's plan to: the information of organ donation volunteers registered in the Chinese Organ Management Center was displayed on the electronic health insurance card.
In October of that year, with the support of the Provincial Human Organ Donation Management Center, after many discussions by the Wenzhou Red Cross Society, wenzhou municipal health commission and Wenzhou Medical University", Wenzhou became the first pilot project of "organ donation volunteer and electronic medical insurance card wisdom interconnection".
Huang Junting did not relax her academic requirements because of her participation in public welfare, and her comprehensive grades in school ranked first in her major for 4 consecutive years.
Since 2019, the number of people driven by the "Light of Life" team and signing the organ donation intention letter accounts for 60% of the total number of signatories in Wenzhou every year. Wenzhou's total number of signatures also rose from 4,962 around 2019 to 26,179 in early December this year.
