In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Central Broadcasting Network launched the "Party History Sound Calendar", which takes you through a hundred years of time with sound.
【Today in the History of the Party】
On December 15, 1991, the first nuclear power plant designed and built by China itself, the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, began to be connected to the grid for power generation. This is another major victory in the development of China's nuclear industry, ending the history of no nuclear power in our interior.
At 0:15 on December 15, 1991, as the operator pressed the start button, the nuclear power current was merged into the East China power grid, and the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant was officially connected to the grid to generate electricity, ending the history of no nuclear power in mainland China.
As early as 1970, the Party Central Committee proposed to build a nuclear power plant, and Premier Zhou Enlai presided over the approval of the construction plan of the first nuclear power plant. In March 1985, on the coast of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant broke ground. A nuclear power plant is made up of hundreds of thousands of pieces of equipment, large and small, and the quality does not allow for the slightest error. Everything started from scratch, experts relied on the memories of several drawings of foreign nuclear power plants, overcame the problem of comprehensive lack of talents, technology and equipment, groped step by step, and finally completed the design of Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant.
Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant is connected to the grid to generate electricity, making China the seventh country in the world to independently design and build nuclear power plants, known as the "glory of the country" and "China's nuclear power starts from here". In the following 30 years, Qinshan Nuclear Power has a total of 9 operating units, with a total installed capacity of 6.6 million kilowatts and an annual power generation capacity of about 50 billion kWh, which is currently the nuclear power base with the largest number of nuclear power units, the richest variety of reactor types and the largest installed capacity in China.
In terms of technology, during this period, Qinshan Nuclear Power has been operating safely and committed to independent innovation, and has mastered 300,000, 600,000 and 1 million kilowatt-class nuclear power technologies, helping China's nuclear power to achieve the development of technical spectrum, completing the "second generation" to "third generation" of technological leaps, China has ranked among the ranks of advanced nuclear power technology, is moving from a nuclear power to a nuclear power. By the end of 2020, Qinshan Nuclear Power has safely operated 132 reactors per year, generating a total of 640 billion kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 600 million tons and planting trees in about 404 West Lake scenic spots.
Qinshan nuclear power is the epitome of China's nuclear power industry from scratch and from small to large. As the "cradle" and "red ship" of China's nuclear power development, over the past 30 years, Qinshan Nuclear Power has gradually mastered a number of key nuclear power technologies, and cultivated a large number of nuclear power professional and technical personnel, successfully realizing the historical leap of "China's nuclear power starts from here", "out of a road of nuclear power localization", "nuclear power project management is in line with international standards", and China's nuclear power "from 300,000 kilowatts to 1 million kilowatts" independent development of historical leaps.
