"Jiangjin-made" turbocharger "drives" the China-Laos railway

Recently, the China-Laos Railway was put into operation in its entirety. On this road of friendship, the turbocharger developed and produced by Chongqing ABB Jiangjin Turbocharger System Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "ABB") is running 6 HXN5B high-power shunting diesel locomotives newly built by CRRC Qishuyan Company, serving 6 major freight yards along the China-Laos Railway, such as Kunming, Huanian, Ninger, Wild Elephant Valley and Mohan, ensuring the operation power and efficiency of the locomotive, and helping it to successfully perform the shunting duties in frequent start and braking.

As a landmark project to witness the "Belt and Road" and the friendship between China and Laos, the China-Laos Railway is the first international railway with Chinese-based investment and construction, the whole line adopts Chinese standards, uses Chinese equipment and is directly connected to the Chinese railway network. It runs from Kunming in China in the north to Yuxi City, Pu'er City and Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in the south to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, all the way across three mountains and four rivers, giving new momentum to China's economic ties with ASEAN.

ABB cooperates closely with CRRC Qishuyan Company and has cooperated in key "Belt and Road" projects in many countries to play the effect of 1+1>2. As early as 2019, ABB provided APR56FV turbochargers for all HXN5B locomotives in the two new lines of the China-Europe International Freight Train pulled by the HXN5B locomotive produced by CRRC Qishuyan Company. This time, ABB once again assisted the HXN5B locomotive, providing strong power for the safety marshalling and shunting of trains.

"Due to the large ramps and small radius of curvature of railway lines, locomotives have lower speeds, whether in traction or propulsion operations, or in slipping shunting, while the load of trains varies greatly. Locomotives are often started at full load to overcome the inertial resistance of the train, and then quickly become the braking to offset the inertia momentum of the train, the load often rises and falls, changes sharply, and the harsh environment brings great challenges to the long-term reliable use of turbochargers. The relevant person in charge of ABB introduced. In view of this situation, the TPR56FV turbocharger developed by ABB has been optimized from the structural design to the production process to the use of materials, and is a heavy product with high efficiency and high pressure ratio of VTG technology, with high pressure ratio, high efficiency, ultra-long maintenance cycle and other characteristics, which can fully adapt to the needs of shunting operations.

As a new generation of turbocharging products specially designed for railway long-distance heavy-duty trunk line diesel locomotives and shunting diesel locomotives, ABB's TPR series turbochargers have exceeded 3,500 units worldwide, serving heavy-duty trunk locomotives and shunting locomotives under various demanding load distribution and environmental conditions. ABB will continue to create more value for customers with leading turbocharging technology and localized services, and contribute to the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the high-quality development of the locomotive industry.
