Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, because the Tropic of Cancer passes through the county, known as the "City of Return", the county is also one of the main planting areas of purple rice in Yunnan, has thousands of years of purple rice planting history, known as "China's purple rice town".

In August, the purple rice planted in various parts of Mojiang County has also ushered in the harvest season. The local ethnic minority people will use the purple rice grown by themselves to carefully make purple rice dumplings, purple rice intestines, purple rice porridge, purple rice chicken, purple rice eight treasure rice and other delicacies to entertain visitors. Purple rice delicacies with full color and fragrance make tourists linger.

It is understood that in recent years, in order to strengthen and enlarge the purple rice brand, Mojiang County has effectively integrated various agriculture-related project funds, given priority to supporting the construction of irrigation ditches, mechanized roads and other infrastructure in the purple rice planting area, and vigorously promoted the development of the purple rice industry. In 2015, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for "Mojiang Purple Rice". Mojiang Purple Rice has won the titles of "Yunnan Famous Brand Agricultural Products", "Yunnan Six Famous Rice", "Pu'er City Well-known Trademark", "The Most Popular Regional Public Brand of Chinese Agricultural Products" and so on.

Plant a grain of purple rice to benefit the people. Up to now, the cultivation of purple rice in Mojiang has developed to 15 townships (towns) in the county, and the planting area has reached more than 15,000 mu, and purple rice has also become one of the important channels for local people to increase income.
