On December 24, Shanghai Digital Medicine Innovation Center and Ruijin Hospital Pancreatic Disease Treatment Center released the "Pancreatic Health" APP, which can observe and collect people's daily life behavior patterns, vital activity signs data, etc., and build a dynamic assessment model of pancreatic disease risk through AI precision calculation, helping to achieve accurate diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic diseases, especially providing more scientific guidance for the individualized treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Shen Baiyong, vice president of Ruijin Hospital, revealed that the degree of malignancy of pancreatic cancer is high, diagnosis and treatment are difficult, the 1-year survival rate of patients is about 20%, the 5-year survival rate is only 5%-7%, and the average survival time is only 6-9 months.

"The available data show that the incidence of pancreatic cancer in China has increased by 4 times in the past 20 years, and the incidence of pancreatic cancer in people over 60 years old in Shanghai has reached 50/100,000, showing a trend of increasing year by year in recent years." Shen Bai said that in the large number of pancreatic cancer cases received by Ruijin Hospital, about half of the patients said that they had "been to the hospital for examination, but were not found in time", mainly because the pancreatic tumor grew in the deep pancreas, in a hidden position in the human body, it is difficult to be found through B ultrasound examination, and routine physical examination is not commonly used to enhance CT or enhance MRI, so there are great limitations for the discovery of this disease. At the same time, the pancreatic tumor is also very cunning, and it is usually "camouflaged" well in the early stages, has no obvious symptoms, and is usually found after metastasis.

"The most important purpose of this APP is to hope that through big data analysis, the early diagnosis rate of pancreatic cancer in Shanghai and even the whole country will be increased by 10-20 percentage points from 20%, and a large number of pancreatic cancer patients will be found in time every year and effectively treated as soon as possible." Shen Bai said.

Ning Guang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, director of Shanghai Digital Medicine Innovation Center, and president of Ruijin Hospital, revealed that the "Pancreatic Health" APP will be divided into three modules, one is the science popularization of pancreatic disease related information; the other is the collection and analysis of living habits, behavior patterns and medical data; and the third is the risk assessment and early warning of various pancreatic diseases and pancreatic cancer.

At present, the APP can be downloaded and installed through the Android app market, only the mobile phone verification code can be registered and logged in, the system will score its pancreatic health index according to the information entered by the user and perform artificial intelligence analysis, and finally assess the potential risk factors for the occurrence of pancreatic disease.

Who recommends downloading this app? Shen Baiyong suggested that one is a high-risk observation object of pancreatic disease, and in recent years, various literatures have reported that overweight and obesity are independent risk factors for the occurrence of pancreatic cancer, and adolescent obesity will also increase the chance of developing pancreatic cancer in the future; the probability of pancreatic cancer in patients with new diabetes has increased significantly. There are also literature pointing out that total cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein and other abnormal blood lipid manifestations are also risk factors for the development of pancreatic cancer; there is also a category of patients who have already suffered from pancreatic diseases, this APP can collect patients' daily behavior pattern data, daily diet and life guidance, but also can also guide and monitor their medical follow-up.

Ning Guang said that since the inauguration of the Shanghai Digital Medicine Innovation Center in Ruijin Hospital on October 27 this year, the development goal of the center is to promote the development of digital medicine from the perspective of human needs, and the "Pancreatic Health" APP is just one of the epitomes. "Through big data analysis, what we need to do is not only medical services, but also establish a disease risk prediction model to achieve 'early prevention, early screening, and early intervention', accelerate the march towards the digital health 2.0 version characterized by 'whole life cycle health', and provide advanced practical exploration for the development of digital medicine in the country, benefiting more patients."
