Since October 9, 2020, sanxingdui's newly discovered six artifact pits have been excavated, more than a year has passed, as of now, Sanxingdui No. 3, 4 and No. 6 pits have completed field excavations and entered the laboratory clean-up stage. Pits 5, 7 and 8 are still being excavated in the field and new models are constantly being discovered. In pit No. 8, a bronze dragon with a "tiger's head and tiger brain" was found, and this artifact has never been found in other sites of the Chinese Bronze Age.
As the stacked tusks were extracted one by one, in October this year, a triangular bronze base was gradually revealed in the middle of crater 8, and after a month and a half of excavations, a dragon-shaped bronze statue was finally revealed.
According to reports, this tiger head tiger brain dragon image, about 80 centimeters high. Such a large volume is still not an independent and complete bronze. Experts are currently speculating that between the tiger-headed tiger brain dragon image and the top-shaped statue of the snake, it may be a column-shaped component, and if the speculation is finally established, it will become another huge Sanxingdui bronze.
In addition to the most peculiar new shape, Sanxingdui No. 8 pit also has a new "maximum". The reporter learned from the archaeological team that as of now, 42 bronze heads have been found in Pit 8. According to experts, these bronze heads that have been exposed are not only numerous, but also rich and diverse in shape, both domed and flat-topped hairstyles in hairstyles, and both hairpins and hairpins on hair ornaments, almost covering all the shapes of the bronze heads of Sanxingdui that are now known.
As excavations progressed, pit 8 was now known to have the largest number of ivory. According to the archaeological team, according to the existing burial logic, the large bronzes in Pit 8 are densely packed, and the more down the bronzes, the greater the difficulty of extraction, and the field excavations may last until next July.
