History is the memory of things that have been said and done. —Carl Baker
Yingbu was originally only a general under Xiang Yu, and when Xiang Yu was divided into princes of the world, he promoted Yingbu out of the ordinary, and Feng Yingbu became the king of Jiujiang. The State of Jiujiang and the State of Chu were neighbors, and Xiang Yu made Yingbu the King of Jiujiang, in order to make Yingbu able to help himself anytime and anywhere. However, after Leaving Xiang Yu, Yingbu gradually developed the idea of self-reliance, and became more and more disrespectful to Xiang Yu.
Yingbu repeatedly offended Xiang Yu
After Xiang Yu divided the princes of the world, Tian Rong, the general of the State of Qi, because he was not crowned king, rebelled and occupied the homeland of the State of Qi. Xiang Yu, fearing that Tian Rong would threaten him, led a large army against Tian Rong and asked Yingbu to lead the army to help him in the battle. Yingbu postponed and refused to send troops, and at Xiang Yu's repeated requests, he sent his generals to lead thousands of people to help the battle.
After Liu Bang sneaked into Pengcheng, Yingbu learned the news that the Chu state had been attacked, but he watched the fire from the other side without moving. Xiang Yu repeatedly sent people to urge Yingbu to send troops, and Yingbu pushed three or four obstacles, and never personally led troops to support Xiang Yu. Since Xiang Yu had enemies on three sides, east, west, and north, only Yingbu in the south was close to Xiang Yu, and Xiang Yu had not been fighting against Yingbu.
Liu Bang sent an easy-going persuasion to persuade Yingbu to surrender
After Liu Bang was defeated by Xiang Yu, he angrily scolded the ministers for being useless and could not help persuade Yingbu to help him. Liu Bang's advisers took the initiative to ask for help and went to Jiujiang to persuade Yingbu. After Sui He arrived in Jiujiang, Yingbu was reluctant to see Sui He. Sui He said to Yingbu's minister, "The King of Jiujiang has always been reluctant to see me because the Han Kingdom is weak and the Chu State is strong, now please let the King of Jiujiang listen to my advice, if what I say is not reasonable, the King of Jiujiang can kill me and my entourage and show his loyalty to the Chu State!" ”
After Sui He saw Yingbu, he took advantage of Yingbu Xiao, and Yingbu could not resist Sui He's temptation and promised to help the Han Kingdom attack the Chu state. After the news of Yingbu's surrender to Liu Bang came out, Xiang Yu immediately sent troops to attack Yingbu and captured Yingbu's Jiujiang state. Yingbu, with the help of Liu Bang, closed the old department and regained its strength.
Why did Yingbu surrender to Liu Bang
It is reasonable to say that Yingbu is Xiang Yu's old department, and after following Xiang Yu in the southern expedition to the north for several years, the feelings between the two people must be very deep. Moreover, Yingbu was named the King of Jiujiang, mainly xiang Yu helped him, and even if Yingbu did not send troops to help Xiang Yu, there was no need to help Liu Bang attack Xiang Yu.
In fact, Yingbu rebelled against Xiang Yu, mainly because Yingbu was an ambitious person. Yingbu was unwilling to send troops to help Xiang Yu, which had already exposed Yingbu's ambitions. Yingbu wanted to sit on the mountain and watch the tiger fight, seeking the greatest benefits between Chu and Han. And Xiang Yu is a person with a small belly and chicken intestines, Yingbu did not send troops to help Xiang Yu, and Xiang Yu will definitely retaliate against Yingbu in the future. Instead of waiting for Xiang Yu to take revenge on himself, Yingbu had surrendered to Liu Bang directly.
Xiang Yu was a man who did not understand diplomatic tactics, and Xiang Yu repeatedly asked Yingbu to send troops, and Yingbu prevaricated Xiang Yu for various reasons, because Yingbu did not see the benefits of sending troops. If Xiang Yu could promise Yingbu benefits, Yingbu would definitely willingly send troops. And Xiang Yu reprimanded Yingbu for refusing to send troops, which was bound to force Yingbu to rebel. It is not so much that Sui He's three words and two words moved Yingbu, but rather that Xiang Yu's bitter coercion eventually forced Yingbu against him.
