On the afternoon of December 30th, Ms. Zhuang, the mother of Dong Jie, the champion of the Tokyo Olympic Women's 4×200m Freestyle Relay, Liang Xinyu, the runner-up of the Tokyo Olympic Synchronized Swimming Team Free Selection Event, and Xu Mian, the runner-up of the Women's Shot Put F57 Final of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, were invited to the Huai'an Ryugu Great White Whale World Scenic Spot, and under the enthusiastic guidance of the staff, they visited Polar Ocean World, and got close to and adopted the "Huai'an" Papua penguin baby born in 2021.
Three Olympic athletes were awarded the Papua Penguin Adoption Certificate and the Huai'an Dragon Palace Great White Whale World Scenic Area Lifetime Family Card.
Since the Huai'an Dragon Palace Great White Whale World Scenic Spot achieved the first successful artificial incubation of Papua penguin babies in Jiangsu Province in 2019, several Papua penguin babies were successfully hatched in 2020 and 2021. Papua penguins lay one or two eggs a year, hatch in harsh conditions, and have a very low survival rate. The Huai'an Dragon Palace Great White Whale World Scenic Spot has been working to overcome the problem of Papua penguins breeding in inland areas far from Antarctica. Over the years, the successful hatching of small penguins has laid a solid foundation for the Huai'an Longgong Great White Whale World Scenic Spot in the artificial incubation and conservation of polar penguins, and has accumulated valuable experience in the breeding of polar penguin species.
Adopted today are three baby Papua penguins born in 2021, numbered "212", "218" and "211", named "QQ", "Niu Niu" and "Guoqiang". The Olympic athletes have given unique meanings and blessings to the names of the three papua penguin babies, and they hope that the three papua penguin babies born in the year of the ox can be "QQ bullet" and always cute; the bull is soaring and always healthy; they hope that the motherland will prosper and the country will be rich and the people will be strong.
