The hidden front hero Fan Jiman lurked in the enemy camp for 19 years, and even served as Mao Renfeng's superior. He had been arrested and imprisoned three times, and before he was sentenced, he relied on a wooden plank to escape.
Early life
Born in 1906 to a large family in Liangshan County, Sichuan Province, Fan Jiman received an excellent education from an early age, and his father invited him a private school teacher to help him learn foreign languages.
At that time, China was experiencing great changes unprecedented in a hundred years, and the European wind and rain also drifted along the western ship cannon to the entire Central Plains. Fan Jiman learned about the motherland's suffering from the teacher's mouth, and when he heard that the Qing government had signed one treaty after another that lost power and humiliated the country, he was heartbroken and determined to change the poverty and weakness of the motherland.
In 1925, he left Sichuan for Wuhan and entered the Hanyang Arsenal Special School.
As the birthplace of the Xinhai Revolution, Wuhan has a strong revolutionary atmosphere, he is always bathed in new ideas, and Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Three People's Principles are even more familiar.
He often marched in the streets with his classmates from the student union, pressuring the Beiyang warlord government to stop the civil war and keep their guns muzzled. Slowly, Fan Jiman discovered that his group of like-minded friends had another identity- the Communist Youth League.
It was an organization he had never heard of, and he didn't know where the charm of the Communist Youth League came from, attracting so many young talents. He suppressed his inner doubts and began to read Marx's works, and the words of the book made him suddenly enlightened.
Fan Jiman saw Marx's foresight, he was convinced of the blueprint of the future world in the books, and in the same year he joined the Communist Youth League, which he officially transferred to the following year.
In 1926, the flames of the Northern Expedition were ignited in Guangzhou and swept north. Fan Jiman also responded to the party's call and added to the Northern Expeditionary Army. He followed the party organization to the unfamiliar city ahead of schedule, carried out political propaganda against the local workers and the people, and won the support of the masses for the Northern Expedition.
However, just when the revolutionary situation was in full swing, Chiang Kai-shek openly violated the will of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and began to massacre the Communist Party of China on a large scale, and the Chinese revolution fell into a low ebb. Forced by the tension, Fan Jiman first went underground and then returned to his hometown for refuge.
In September 1927, he was ordered by the party organization to establish a special branch of Liangshan in his hometown. He actively carried out anti-imperialist and anti-feudal activities in the local area, put forward revolutionary slogans of overthrowing corrupt officials and corrupt officials, overthrowing local tycoons and inferior gentry, overthrowing imperialism, and overthrowing idols, and responded greatly to the revolutionary movement in Jiangxi.
Latent missions
Fan Jiman's activities in the Sichuan region were soon wanted by local warlords, and he was forced to leave his hometown for Shanghai, where he became a liaison officer for the party organization's stronghold in the French Concession.
During the May Thirtieth Massacre, he organized many large-scale student movements and achieved great achievements, but he also attracted the attention of reactionaries and was arrested and imprisoned.
During the three months in prison, he insisted that he was an ordinary patriotic student, refusing to change his mouth whether the enemy tortured or paid money, and was eventually acquitted.
However, he was told that because the party organization was seriously damaged by the left-leaning line, it was temporarily impossible to determine his situation in Shanghai, and it was necessary to wait for Shanghai to change relations. But this did not dampen his vigor, and he began to run around the major anti-Japanese demonstrations and to find usable information for our party.
By chance, he met his old classmate Chen Gongshu, who was the main person in charge of the Kuomintang's secret publications. Fan Jiman was invited to translate some foreign language materials from the American legation, which was really a show of hands for him, and he readily agreed.
However, when he got the translation of these documents, he found that this was important military and diplomatic information between the Kuomintang and Japan, and this information was handed over to the main responsible person of the underground party Beiping Municipal Committee at the first time, helping our party to grasp the movements of the Kuomintang and the Japanese army in a timely manner.
Fan Jiman also became the "royal translator" of the Beiping Kuomintang, and a steady stream of classified information was sent to our party, but he was betrayed by traitors half a year later, imprisoned again, and then regained his freedom after many trips by our party.
He continued to use his linguistic talents to travel between Japan and the Kuomintang for intelligence work.
In 1935, Fan Jiman served as the acting station chief of the Beiping Station of the Military Command, and at this time, Mao Renfeng was just a small role under his name.
Skillfully use wooden planks to escape the ascension to heaven
After the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance, Fan Jiman arrived in the French Concession in Shanghai and engaged in intelligence work against Japan. Under the eyes of the Japanese, he saved the only radio station of the underground party, and even saved two underground party comrades from the heavily guarded prison.
After the outbreak of the Liberation War, he was again ordered to find a way to penetrate the Kuomintang in order to obtain important information. Fan Jiman once again used his language talent to become the acting commissioner of the Major General of the International Group of the Second National Defense Department of the Kuomintang in Shanghai.
He used the cover of his identity to help a large number of underground party comrades escape the arrest of the reactionaries, and sent important information for the battles of Liaoshen, Huaihai, and Pingjin, and even drew out the route of Chiang Kai-shek's retreat to Taiwan and the deployment of troops and weapons along the way.
However, he was betrayed again by traitors and taken to the Secret Service under strict supervision. Fan Jiman knew that at this time, the Kuomintang was already dying and struggling, and he was very likely to become a ghost under the gun. By the time he was about to be executed, an escape plan had already appeared in his mind.
In the early morning of April 11, 1949, Van Ji Man's wailing suddenly came from the cell, only to see him curled up on the ground with his stomach covered and convulsing, and he begged the guards to get some medicine.
But as soon as the guard's front foot left, he immediately put away the wailing sound, rushed to the toilet, took out the board on which the prisoners put toiletries and put it on the wall, and jumped over the high wall with help. By the time the guards reacted, he was long gone.
