After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, many of his family members participated in the anti-Japanese activities, paid a lot of funds from their families as funds, and sometimes sold grain, mules and horses, and sold land when there was not enough money, and their family's wealth was not as good as before.
Although Wang Shaoyuan was a rich man with a superior life, he witnessed the arrogance of the invaders and betrayed his family to join the revolution without hesitation; because he had studied in a private school in Feng County for several years, his learning ability was very strong, he made rapid progress in the army, and he was not afraid of hardships for the country and the people, not afraid of bloodshed and sacrifice, he fought very bravely, quickly joined the party, and was promoted to a cadre, among which, the most outstanding battle fought during the War of Resistance Against Japan was that he led his troops to attack the Japanese and puppet strongholds magongdian twice.

In the winter of 1942, the Japanese army invading China shifted the focus of its sweep from north China to Huaihai, Huaibei, and Huainan in central China, and the 17th Division of the Japanese Army, independently mixed into one of the 13th Brigade, and gathered more than 7,000 troops of the 15th and 28th Divisions of the puppet army, respectively, from Sixian, Suqian, Huaiyin, Xuyi, Wuhe and other 5 roads, and in the area of Bancheng in the core area of the Huaibei Anti-Japanese Base Area, in a vain attempt to annihilate the main force of the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army and the party and government organs of the Huaibei Border Region on the banks of Hongze Lake. One of them, more than 200 Japanese troops and more than 600 puppet troops invaded Magongdian from the west of Qingyang Town and began to build a stronghold here.
Magongdian, located in Chemen Township, Sihong County, Suqian City, is located between Si County and Qingyang, close to the Bian River, was an important village and town in the east of Si County at that time, which was a famous local commercial and trade center in history, and has always been a place where soldiers and families must compete. Our New Fourth Army clearly knows that once the Japanese army has established a stronghold here, our two counties of Sinan and Silingsuo will be severely divided and completely passive, so the second battalion of the thirty-second regiment of the eleventh brigade of the fourth division of our new fourth army, under the leadership of battalion commander Yang Senkui and instructor Wang Shaoyuan, is responsible for jumping to the outside line, attacking the enemy, and forcibly attacking the Japanese stronghold of Magongdian.
After reconnaissance, it was learned that more than 200 Japanese troops occupying Magongdian were stationed in a large temple in the southwest corner of the town, and a single sentry was set up in a separate house in front of the temple; more than 400 puppet troops were stationed in the courtyards of two landlords in the northwest corner of the town. At this time, Wang Shaoyuan immediately convened a meeting of cadres and decided to take advantage of the unstable foothold of the Japanese puppet army and deploy to attack the enemy. Immediately ordered: two companies attacked the Japanese from the east and west sides of the Great Temple, the sixth company took one platoon as the battalion reserve, and the company headquarters led two platoons to expand on the south side of the puppet army garrison in the northwest corner of the village, on the one hand, to isolate the mutual contact and support between the Japanese and the puppets, and on the other hand to pretend to attack the puppet army in the main courtyard of the landlord. After killing and wounding a large number of Japanese troops, the whole battalion immediately withdrew from the battle and moved east.
At dusk that day, Wang Shaoyuan led his troops to Magongdian and destroyed the telephone line between the Japanese puppet troops, and in the middle of the night, each company attacked the enemy of Magongdian according to the order. The assault platoon swiftly crossed a dry trench and approached the Great Temple covertly from the east head of Magongdian. Unexpectedly, in order to prevent our surprise attack, the cunning enemy laid sorghum stalks on the east and west streets, and people "snapped" when they stepped on them. Hu Kaide immediately ordered a group to quietly push the sorghum stalks on the ground from the side of the street slightly, forming a sidewalk without sorghum stalks, and the whole platoon quickly passed quietly until about 10 meters on the east side of the temple, before the Japanese army noticed. The first group quickly advanced to the independent house, threw grenades, eliminated the sentry, and blocked the temple gate.
At the same time, two other companies quickly surrounded the temple from the east and west sides and threw grenades at the temple. The Japanese troops inside the temple were suddenly bombed in a concentrated manner, and the ghosts and wolves howled in a mess. For a moment, the sound of grenades exploding in the temple and the shouts of the Japanese army mixed together. The roof was ignited by the explosion of a grenade, and the flames quickly turned in the night wind, and the flames were raging and the smoke was billowing. The undead Japanese troops could not bear to rush out desperately, but each charge was blocked by my four companies and one row, and the Japanese troops who wanted to escape through the wall were also wiped out by the five companies.
At this time, the panicked Japanese army blindly shot outward with a "small steel cannon" while quietly digging a hole in the north wall in an attempt to drill a hole to escape. When it was about to be dug through, it was discovered by the five companies and the opening of the expanding hole was tightly sealed with light machine guns, and the enemy's attempt to drill the hole to escape failed. The Japanese army had no choice, some of them retreated to the bunker in the northeast corner of the temple, and some of them still stubbornly tried to escape through the wall again and again, but they were all blocked or killed.
The two platoons of the Sixth Company, at the beginning of the battle, quickly inserted themselves between the Japanese puppet garrisons, separating them. Then, he threw grenades at the puppet army garrison and blocked the gate of the garrison with light machine guns to prevent the puppet army from taking the door and fleeing. The puppet army was blinded by this surprise attack and panicked. The leader of the puppet army picked up the phone and wanted to ask the Japanese army for help, but the left shouting and right shouting could not be reached, so he had to lead the soldiers to shrink in the compound and resign themselves to fate. The personnel killed by the New Fourth Army were in a state of sleep, the wounded were crying in unison, and the order was very chaotic.
After a period of fierce fighting, seeing that it was almost dawn, Wang Shaoyuan saw that the purpose of the battle had been achieved, decisively issued an order to withdraw from the battle, and led the whole battalion to move eastward. In this battle, a total of more than 90 Japanese troops and more than 50 puppet troops were killed and wounded, which greatly damaged the morale of the Japanese puppet army. After the enemy of Magongdian was attacked by the second battalion, the Japanese army dragged dozens of corpses back to Si County the next afternoon.
The Japanese army was not willing to accept its own defeat, in order to stabilize Magongdian, and once again sent heavy troops to repair the stronghold, at this time, the New Fourth Army Division headquarters once again instructed the enemy of the second dozen Magongdian, this time to take a surprise attack and a strong attack and also send brother troops reinforcements. After Wang Shaoyuan led the troops to fight, after forcing the puppet army to retreat into a large house, the commando team immediately climbed onto the roof of the big house and quickly opened a hole in the roof. At the same time as the political offensive and military strikes, the commanders and fighters threw the lit torches from the opening of the roof to the room, and the torches burned fiercely, and dozens of puppet soldiers were burned to death.
The battle lasted about an hour, and when the enemy was about to be completely annihilated, it was overlooked that the enemy who had gathered reinforcements from the Shunhe River had approached Magongdian, and in order to avoid a war of attrition with the enemy, Wang Shaoyuan ordered the companies to quickly withdraw from the battle and move immediately when the purpose of the battle had been achieved. In this battle, more than 80 Japanese puppet troops were killed or wounded. They attacked Magongdian twice, annihilating more than 200 Japanese puppet troops, and dealing a heavy blow to the Japanese puppet troops who "swept up" the anti-Japanese strongholds in Huaibei. After the second attack, the remnants of the puppet army also followed the example of their "master" and were forced to abandon the Magongdian stronghold on the third day and flee back to Si County. Magongdian has finally returned to the embrace of the people.
The second battalion led by Wang Shaoyuan attacked Magongdian for the second time, and one day and night with a battalion of troops, it attacked Magongdian, and all the devils and two squadrons were densely packed in a courtyard, and my heroic soldiers threw more than a hundred grenades and crossed them with machine guns, which really killed and injured more than sixty devils, which was really painful! The devil who rushed out, first of all, the machine gunner, was held by us, first grabbed the new Type 38 light machine gun, and then took off the steel helmet, intending to capture him, he resolutely did not leave, and finally the result was him. This battle dealt the greatest blow to the enemy, and the people became more and more powerful after the bombardment! It is said that the New Fourth Army's strategy is superb and it is really capable of fighting. Later, the division commander's evaluation of Wang Shaoyuan's command was only four words: clean and neat! He was praised for playing very well, without dragging mud and water, and his combat experience is worth promoting.
Subsequently, Wang Shaoyuan was promoted to director of the regimental political office, regimental political commissar, and divisional political commissar. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he led his troops into the Korean War and participated in the Jincheng Counterattack Campaign. After returning to China, he successively served as the director of the Political Department of the Air Force of the Nanjing Military Region, the deputy political commissar, and the deputy political commissar of the Air Force of the Lanzhou Military Region, and made contributions to the construction of the Air Force, and was awarded the rank of colonel in 1955, the Order of August 1, the Second Class, the Liberation Medal of the Second Class, and was promoted to major general in 1961.
