Sun Yuanliang is a Sichuan Chengdu Huayang County, born in 1904, this year, his father has been 67 years old, old to get children, Sun Yuanliang was pampered when he was a child, but he did not lose himself, when he was a teenager, he was humble and studious, excellent grades.
In 1924, Sun Yat-sen founded the Whampoa Military Academy in Guangzhou, that is, to cultivate talents for the revolution, Sun Yuanliang, who was studying preparatory department at Peking University, was very eager for revolution, and after Li Dazhao's recommendation, he came to Shanghai to participate in the re-examination.
After the re-examination, Sun Yuanliang came to Guangzhou as he wished and was admitted to the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy.
Among the students of the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, although Sun Yuanliang was not as famous as Chen Geng, Du Yuming, Guan Linzheng and others, he was also deeply appreciated by the principal Chiang Kai-shek.
After graduating from the Whampoa Military Academy, he came to the National Revolutionary Army and served as a probationary platoon leader, and after the Second Crusade, Sun Yuanliang was promoted to battalion commander with his excellent performance.
Many people say that Sun Yuanliang was known for "escaping" many times in his military career, and in fact, it is true.
In 1926, during the Northern Expedition, Sun Yuanliang served as the commander of the National Revolutionary Army, and after the revolutionary army captured Nanchang, it sought a lot of fun, and the warlord Sun Chuanfang counterattacked overnight, and Nanchang was lost due to insufficient preparation.
Chiang Kai-shek was very angry about this matter, and in the end, Sun Yuanliang was pushed out by everyone, and his superiors said that he was in the presence of a great enemy and retreated without authorization, and old Chiang reprimanded Sun Yuanliang in front of everyone, and even said that he was going to shoot him to correct military law.
However, later, while saying this, Old Jiang gave Sun Yuanliang a road fee and asked him to disguise himself and escape.
After Chiang Kai-shek's arrangement, Sun Yuanliang came to Japan and entered the Japanese Army Non-Commissioned Officer School for further study, and in 1929, Sun Yuanliang was expelled from the school because he met Zhang Xueliang and others in the northeast, and in desperation, he had to go to Chiang Kai-shek again.
Chiang Kai-shek still attached great importance to him, and transferred him to teach the 1st Division's field artillery battalion commander, after which Sun Yuanliang participated in the Battle of the Central Plains in 1930 and the Battle of Songhu in 1932 under Chiang Kai-shek.
By October 1936, Sun Yuanliang had been promoted to lieutenant general.
After the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance in 1937, Sun Yuanliang led the 88th Division to defend the Zhabei position, and later, in order to cover the transfer of troops, Sun Yuanliang ordered more than 400 officers and men of the 1st Battalion of the 524th Regiment of the 88th Division to hold the Sihang Warehouse Position. Little is known that the troops guarding the Sihang warehouse at that time were Sun Yuanliang's troops.
After the fall of Shanghai, Sun Yuanliang reorganized his troops in Suzhou, and soon after, he was ordered to lead his troops to Nanjing to participate in the defense of Nanjing.
Nanjing was the capital of the Republic of China at that time, and the Japanese once boasted that they would destroy China within three months, believing that once They conquered Nanjing, Chinese would surrender, so they were bound to win Nanjing.
In the defense of Nanjing, Sun Yuanliang led his troops to garrison the ZhonghuaMen and Yuhuatai areas, and on December 9, the Japanese army concentrated more than 40,000 people from several companies, including the main force of the 6th Division and the 114th Division, to launch a fierce attack on the Yuhuatai area, and the 88th Division repelled dozens of crazy attacks by the Japanese army, and organized hundreds of death squads to take the initiative to attack the Japanese army.
They persisted until December 12, because on this day, the southeastern suburbs of Purple Mountain, Tianbao City, Ming Xiaoling and other places have fallen, in the afternoon, the kuomintang's highest military commander in Nanjing, Tang Shengzhi, met to arrange the retreat.
Sun Yuanliang's troops were designated as units to cover the retreat of the whole army.
Because Tang Shengzhi hastily ordered a retreat and was not tightly organized, the Nanjing troops retreated in a chaotic manner, and many people did not escape, including Sun Yuanliang.
According to Sun Yuanliang's own memoirs later, "I could not find a boat on the riverside, so I had to drill a gap to retreat to the mountains to the east, and we crossed the railway between the stations of Xiaxia Mountain and LongZenian and entered the mountains in a southerly direction. The indigenous compatriots diligently provided food, enthusiastically led the way, and found a boat for us, which gave us a lot of convenience and added countless sadness to us! In this way, I took more than 600 officers and brothers of my headquarters, and a lifetime of trauma and shame, from the vicinity of Longtan to the river, through Taixing, Huaiyin, Xuzhou, and Zhengzhou, and arrived in Wuhan in late March 1938.
According to some versions, Sun Yuanliang actually hid in the legation of a certain country in China under the arrangement of a classmate, and later, he learned in the legation that the generals guarding Nanjing had gone from Tang Shengzhi to the commanders of the divisions, and no one had been punished, so he decided to disguise himself as a coachman and leave Nanjing.
There are also versions that say that Sun Yuanliang did not go to the legation, but came to a brothel, and under the protection of the old bustard, he survived smoothly and later left Nanjing.
No one knows what kind of situation Sun Yuanliang was in Nanjing, and in his memoirs, he was also vague about this experience, which made people very confused.
In general, it is certain that in March 1938, he did come to Wuhan from Nanjing.
When Sun Yuanliang came to Wuhan, ordinary people who fled from Shanghai and Nanjing to Wuhan accused him of robbing cotton yarn books in Shanghai, robbing supplies from shops in Wuxi and other places in Suzhou, and raping Shanghai student consolation representatives.
Even Liao Lingqi, commander of the 264th Brigade of his own unit, the 88th Division, led all the officers and men of the brigade to petition Chiang Kai-shek, hoping to shoot Sun Yuanliang, because during the defense of Nanjing, Sun Yuanliang did not receive the order to retreat, and left the division headquarters without authorization, regardless of the lives and deaths of all the officers and men of the division.
Chiang Kai-shek received many accusations, but at this time, he did not pay attention, but tried every means to find a way out for Sun Yuanliang, under his arrangement, Sun Yuanliang was dismissed from his post and investigated, detained for 42 days in the prison of the Military Law Enforcement Directorate, and soon after, Sun Yuanliang was acquitted.
During the battle, he escaped many times and was shot by Chiang Kai-shek many times, but when he turned around, Sun Yuanliang not only did not receive any punishment, but on the contrary, he was in a flat stride and repeatedly saved his life.
During the Liberation War, Sun Yuanliang once again escaped a disaster in the Battle of Huaihai, and his life was indeed more wonderful.
Later, Sun Yuanliang followed Chiang Kai-shek to Taiwan and spent the rest of his life, dying in 2007 at the age of 103, the last of the first batch of students at the Whampoa Military Academy to die.
It is worth mentioning that Sun Yuanliang has a son, who has now become a big star, and is widely known as Qin Han, a veteran Taiwanese artist who is amphibious in film and television. The original name of Qin Han was called Sun Xiangzhong.
