Digital yuan public beta upgrade, pilot version of the App on the Shelves Apple App Store and Android major app stores.
On January 4, the reporter learned that the Digital Yuan App (pilot version) has been publicly listed on the Huawei App Market and Apple App Store.
According to reports, the Digital Yuan (Pilot Version) App is China's legal tender digital currency - the official service platform for the pilot of the Digital Yuan for individual users, providing the opening and management of the Digital Yuan personal wallet, the exchange and circulation of the Digital Yuan. The digital yuan is still in the routine testing stage of the R&D process, and the whitelist users who operate in the pilot areas and pilot scenarios can register for the digital yuan app.
Compared with the previous need to redeem the code, the application and review can be installed according to the prescribed steps to install the APP, the pilot version is simple to operate, which greatly improves the user experience. After learning the news, many citizens in the pilot area downloaded the App for the first time and posted a screenshot of the successful opening to see what functions the Digital Yuan App has. Some netizens in non-pilot areas regretted that "the digital yuan was listed in the app store, but unfortunately my region cannot be used, and I look forward to the day when the whole country can use it." ”
Compared with the previous version, this pilot version has made corresponding upgrades in terms of functions and partitions. For example, from the interface point of view, it is divided into three categories: homepage, service, and me. In the service section, it includes functions such as sub-wallets, red envelopes, and stickers.
Since 2021, the public acceptance of the digital yuan has continued to increase, and remarkable achievements have been made in many aspects such as the scope of the pilot, participating institutions, application scenarios, and the opening of personal wallets.
At present, the digital yuan is still in the routine testing stage of the research and development process, and the pilot cities have expanded from Shenzhen, Suzhou, Chengdu and Xiong'an New Area to form a "10+1" pattern: the current pilot areas include Shenzhen, Suzhou, Xiong'an, Chengdu, Shanghai, Hainan, Changsha, Xi'an, Qingdao, Dalian, and the Winter Olympics scene; the operating institutions participating in the pilot have also been extended to MYbank, WeBank and China Merchants Bank on the basis of the six major banks.
"The open download of the digital yuan has promoted the popularity of the digital yuan and improved the convenience of the use of the digital yuan." Pan Helin, member of the Information and Communication Economy Expert Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and executive dean of the Digital Economy Research Institute of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, told the first financial reporter.
Pan and Lin believe that the main difficulty in the future popularization of the digital yuan lies in the popularity, and the key to improving the popularity is: First, the communication channel, the current smart phone App is the best communication channel, through an App, bound to all digital YUAN application scenarios, for users, more convenient to obtain; the second is ease of use, the more simple the payment App, the more popular with the society, which is also the advantage of mobile payment over traditional payment methods such as credit cards in the past. The Digital Yuan App combines these two aspects, thus providing help for the popularization of digital yuan applications in the future. "Of course, at this stage, there are still many restrictions, such as designating pilot areas and white lists, but through the listing, it has brought a lot of expectations to the people of the whole country."
Since 2021, the central bank has steadily promoted the research and development of the digital yuan, solidly promoted key projects such as the pilot of the Beijing Winter Olympics scene, and released the "White Paper on the Research and Development Progress of China's Digital Yuan" to the public in July 2021. The central bank's 2022 work conference pointed out that it is necessary to comprehensively improve the level of financial services and management, including "steadily and orderly promoting the pilot research and development of the digital yuan".
According to the latest data disclosed by the official, as of October 22, 140 million digital RMB personal wallets and 10 million corporate wallets have been opened, with a cumulative number of transactions reaching 150 million and a transaction volume of nearly 62 billion yuan. There are 1.55 million merchants supporting digital RMB wallets, covering all aspects of public utilities, food services, transportation, shopping and government affairs.
