Germany is the largest market for pure electric MINI models in the world, with 23.6% of all MINI sold in the country's market being pure electric versions. The 2021 electric version of the MINI played an important role, with sales up 132%. With the launch of THE PLUG-in hybrid version of THE MODEL, the company's overall sales of electrified models increased by more than 70% year-on-year in 2021.

In 2021, the total number of MINI registrations in Germany was 43,004. Von Mirbach said: "Against the backdrop of a tough supply situation, MINI's sales last year only fell by 2.7% year-on-year, which reflects the excellent operational performance of the entire team. As a result, we have successfully continued to expand MINI's share of the high-end market. ”

MINI is currently producing the all-electric MINI Cooper SE at its plant in Oxford, and will also produce an electric version of the MINI Countryman at its Leipzig plant starting in 2023; in the same year, the China plant will also start producing all-electric MINI models based on the new architecture.
