According to VGC reporter Jordan Middler recently revealed, the "Final Fantasy" series will deepen the connection with the PlayStataion platform, Square Enix and Sony do not want to let the series land on the Xbox platform.
Middler mentioned in the Resetera forum that Square Enix is now "firmly on Sony's side" and that the closeness between the two sides is even beyond public knowledge. Sony hopes that the PlayStation platform will become the "home base" for this generation of Final Fantasy series. As an illustration, Middler pointed out that Final Fantasy 7 Remake was long overdue for Xbox, but that wasn't the case.
Middler, on the other hand, also said that Square Enix is interested in the PC platform and is keen to release a PC version of the game. So far, titles such as Traveler Of Octagon, Apocalypse 2, and Final Fantasy VII Remake have indeed landed on Steam or Epic Game Stores. There should be more Square Enix games coming to PC in the future.
Of course, the above information is mainly derived from Middler's personal remarks and has not received official comments. Please look at it objectively.
