Yin Shuyi, the Book of Song and the Jiankang Shilu, clearly state that her surname is Yin. However, li Yanshou's "History of the South" of the Tang Dynasty records two versions, one is that her real surname is Liu, the name is unknown, is the daughter of Liu Yixuan, the king of Nan County, that is, she is the cousin of Liu Jun, the Emperor Xiaowu of Song. Liu Yi announced a rebellion, and Liu Jun quietly took her into the palace, calling her surname Yin, and anyone who knew her true identity was killed by the emperor, so no one knew her origin.
Another theory is that she was originally from the Yin Family, possibly the maid of the Yin Family, or it may be the Miss of the Yin Family, and later given to Liu Yixuan by Yin Yan because of her beautiful appearance. The history books record that Liu Yixuan was a lustful person, who recruited women with beautiful postures in the folk, and even did not spare nuns, and there were as many as a thousand concubines. When Liu Jun was proclaimed emperor, Liu Yixuan went to Xinting to greet him, and Yin followed Liu Yixuan, so he was favored by Liu Jun. Liu Yixuan pushed the boat along the water and gave her to the new emperor. Afterwards, Zang Zhi and others may have made excuses for Liu Yixuan to rebel in Jingzhou, so they described all the concubines and prostitutes given to Liu Jun by the King of Nanjun, including Yin Shuyi, as the daughters of the King of Nanjun, and took the opportunity to create rumors of incest between Liu Jun and his cousins.
Either way, it is a fact that Yin became Yin Shuyi. Because she is very beautiful and has a charming smile, Liu Jun loves her extremely. Yin Shuyi bore the emperor five sons and a daughter. She also wanted her heirs to inherit the throne in the future, so she blew a pillow wind to Liu Jun, asked him to depose the crown prince, and made her own son the heir. Although it did not succeed in the end, this incident made Liu Ziye hold a grudge.
In April of the sixth year of the Ming Dynasty, Yin Shuyi died, and Liu Jun was very sad. In order to alleviate the pain of his own thoughts, he asked people to make the coffin like a drawer. Since Yin Shuyi's death, Liu Jun was in a trance due to grief and seriously abandoned the government. Every night before going to bed, he would pour a cup of sacrificial wine in front of the bed and drink it, and then cry bitterly.
In the seventh year of the Ming Dynasty, Liu Jun and his ministers discussed Yin Shuyi's title, and the relevant departments said: "The Spring and Autumn Records that Zhongzi was not the original wife of Lu Huigong, and was still able to build a palace temple alone. Now that the noble concubines are in high positions among the state officials, a new temple should be built. Therefore, Liu Jun posthumously made Yin Shuyi a noble concubine, and also built a separate temple for him in the capital, called Xin'an Temple after her son Liu Ziluan.
After the deposed emperor Liu Ziye succeeded to the throne, he tried to take revenge on the former Concubine Yin Guifei, so he killed all the children she gave birth to and destroyed the Xin'an Temple. He also dug up Yin Guifei's grave, dragged the body out of the coffin, and humiliated her on the spot.
