During the entire Huaihai Campaign, the second phase of the Battle of Shuangduiji was probably the most intense, during which the Central Plains Field Army mobilized all its forces to encircle the 12th Corps of the Kuomintang Army in an area of five kilometers centered on shuangduiji. The 12th Corps of the Kuomintang Army is an elite unit of the Nationalist Army, under the jurisdiction of the Tenth Army, the 18th Army, the 14th Army, the 85th Army, the whole army a total of 120,000 people, this corps is the elite unit of the Nationalist Army, especially the 18th Army, which is known as one of the five main forces of the Nationalist Army, and its combat effectiveness is very strong.
At the beginning of the Battle of Shuangduiji, due to the lack of heavy weapons of the Central Plains Field Army, there was a risk of allowing the Huang Wei Corps to break through, and two columns of Huaye came with heavy weapons to reinforce them before they were completely annihilated. At the end of the Battle of Shuangduiji, the two sides engaged in a fierce battle around Dawangzhuang. Dawangzhuang was only a small village with only 100 households, but it was only a few kilometers away from the headquarters of the 12th Corps at that time, and it was the southern gate of the 12th Corps Headquarters, and its geographical location was very important. The first to attack Dawangzhuang were the 58th regiment and 60th regiment of the 20th Division of the Seventh Column of Huaye, the seventh column of Huaye first bombarded the position of Dawangzhuang with column and divisional artillery fire, and the 58th regiment and the 60th regiment successfully took Dawangzhuang after a fierce battle, and the 59th regiment took over The Dawangzhuang in the evening. When the fierce battle of Dawangzhuang was in full swing, Wang Jinshan sent the 46th Regiment of the Sixth Column of Nakano to come to support, and as soon as this unit entered the position, it engaged in an hour-long melee battle with the Tiger Regiment, and the sound of grenades, explosive packs, bazookas, and mortar shells exploding on both sides came and went. After several hours of fierce fighting between the two sides, the remaining troops of the 58th Regiment, the 59th Regiment, and the 60th Regiment of the 20th Division of the Seventh Column of Huaye also gathered to launch another attack on Dawangzhuang, and Huang Wei replenished part of the remaining strength of the 14th Army to the 33rd Regiment of the Nationalist Army in an attempt to compete with Huaye. The battle was very fierce, and the Tiger Regiment of the Nationalist Army opened the way with flamethrowers and grenades, and engaged in a fierce battle with the officers and men of Huaye. Finally, under the absolute superiority of our army, the defenders of the 33rd Regiment were finally annihilated.
After the battle of Dawangzhuang, the entire village was razed to the ground, and although it can still be found on the map, it no longer exists in reality. At that time, stationed in Xiaowangzhuang was a division headquarters of the 23rd Division of the 85th Army and two regiments, and this unit saw the fierce battle of Dawangzhuang nearby, and finally surrendered to the Seventh Column of Huaye.
