Old photos of a lot of cars on the streets of Chicago in the 40s
During the Great Depression, the U.S. government established the Farm Security Administration to help poor farmers. As part of that process, they assembled a team of today's legendary photographers, including Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans, to document the lives of these Americans.
John Vachon, who was only 21 years old, also joined the bandwagon, coming to Chicago in 1941 to document city life. From the homeless people on the street to the wealthy ladies in the shopping, he recorded them all.
There were so many cars in the '40s, and Chicago was amazing back then.
