What kind of "heroic heroine among women" dared to slap Cai Yuanpei in public? This is the protagonist we are going to talk about today, Xue Xun.
Cai Yuanpei we are more familiar with, the president of Peking University, a highly respected teacher. What kind of thing did Cai Yuanpei do like this, and would be slapped by his own female student, Xue Xun, in public? Let's take a look.
After the "918" incident, the Japanese imperialists began to implement their policy of aggression against China from the three eastern provinces, which plunged many compatriots in the northeast into the flames of war, but the approach of the Republic of China government at that time was very indifferent. The attitude of the Government of the Republic of China toward Japan is to adopt an indifferent attitude of inaction and non-resistance. This is a very chilling, even angry, to the patriots.
In particular, patriotic students who have received education are even more indignant about this. Therefore, the students began to spontaneously organize themselves, through various parades, street speeches, etc., to express their anger and ask the Republic of China government for explanations.
At that time, the two major factions of students were a more moderate petition group and a more radical demonstration group. For the Republic of China government, a good number of petition groups are relatively popular, and radical demonstration groups directly call the police to dismiss, and many students are injured or imprisoned.
The attitude of the Government of the Republic of China was the best fuse for the demonstrations, and one day, after passing through several responsible organizations of the demonstrations, they rushed directly into the central building where many leaders were meeting. In order to stabilize the mood of the demonstrators, Cai Yuanpei and Chen Mingshu took the initiative to assume the responsibility of communicating with them.
The protagonist of our article today, Xue Xun, is the deputy commander of the demonstration group, and he and Chen Mingshu launched a war of words. In the face of Xue Xun's step-by-step questioning, one question after another, Chen Mingshu was dumbfounded by the question. After all, the fact at that time was indeed the government of the Republic of China, and the inaction of the Japanese army was not done. Cai Yuanpei saw that Chen Mingshu had nothing to say, so he came out to save the scene and persuaded the students to focus on their studies now and not to do anything special.
But for the angry demonstrators, however, this remark was nothing short of adding fuel to the fire. Before Cai Yuanpei's words of encouragement were finished, Xue Xun rushed to Cai Yuanpei's face in anger and gave Cai Yuanpei a loud slap.
At that time, the surrounding police, seeing that the demonstrators had started to beat people, did not care what was going on, fired several shots at the sky, trying to warn the demonstrators. However, he did not think about it, but he was mistaken by the demonstrators for arresting them. Xue Xun and the demonstrators took Cai Yuanpei hostage.
The scene was once very chaotic, Cai Yuanpei on the one hand did not want the police to hurt the students of the demonstration group, on the other hand, he was kind to the students. But at the scene of the confusion, no one could hear what Cai Yuanpei was saying.
In the end, Cai Yuanpei was taken to the parish by the students, only to be rescued by the police from the students of the demonstration group. Of course, several representatives of the demonstration group were also arrested, and Xue Xun, a female student who slapped Cai Yuanpei, was also arrested.
For Cai Yuanpei, it is not the demonstrators who are arrested, but the students, and it is the future of the country's educational development. Because they were still students, Xue Xun and others were released not long after they were locked up.
Xue Xun, who came out of prison, also slowly understood what the demonstrators were doing, although more people learned about the government's inaction, but it had no substantive effect. Therefore, Xue Xun began to wholeheartedly start the revolutionary struggle, and through a reasonable and appropriate way, a little bit of slow change, it also achieved very good results.
After the founding of New China, Xue Xun was also appointed as the propaganda director of Jinan City and the deputy secretary of the Hebei Provincial Party Committee.
Later, Xue Xun had the chance to report his work to Chairman Mao Zedong. Chairman Mao probably also heard her slap Cai Yuanpei and teased her. However, Chairman Mao praised Xue Xun's ability to work very much, praising Xue Xun as a "heroic hero among women."
Xue Xun treats his work very conscientiously and meticulously. During his term of office, he also contributed all his energy to the people and the country. On September 28, 1978, this "heroic heroine among women" praised by Chairman Mao died of illness in Beijing.
