According to the report, in the early morning of October 14 last year, after the suspect Huang Gege quarreled with his boyfriend because of jealousy, he deliberately poured the unquenched incense ash on the leather sofa of the small suite, causing a fire, resulting in the death of 46 residents in the building. Afterwards, Huang Gege repeatedly argued that he had no remorse, and the Kaohsiung prosecutor recommended that the court impose capital punishment on him.

According to the report, prosecutors found that Huang Gege's (52-year-old) boyfriend surnamed Guo (53 years old) had lived without water and electricity in a small suite next to the tea shop on the first floor of "City within a City" since August 2020 due to poor economic conditions. Huang and Guo met around August 2021, and the two often called on friends to drink and chat on the first floor of the "City within a City".
The tenants who escaped upstairs alleged that Huang and Guo both loved to drink, and every day they found someone outside the suite to get drunk. Huang is a headache character, often causing trouble, smashing cars and smashing glass when drunk, and residents and neighbors have long been unable to look at it but avoid it.

However, within 15 minutes, the room was filled with smoke. A taxi driver came home from work and found something strange, which could not be stopped.

According to the report, in order to extinguish the fire in the "city within the city", the Kaohsiung fire department dispatched a total of 31 detachments in the early morning of the same day, dispatched 72 fire trucks and 145 firefighters to the scene to rescue, but could not stop the low-rise flames from soaring into the sky. The fire burned for an hour and a half, and the cries of residents crying for help were heard all over the building, and the scene was like purgatory. The fire burned for an hour and a half, eventually resulting in 46 deaths and 41 injuries.
According to the analysis of relevant testimony and monitor screens, the prosecutors flashed and exploded after nearly 30 minutes of smouldering ashes, extended wooden decoration, plus 59 motorcycles parked on the 1st floor, and the scene instantly became a sea of fire. The prosecution said that Huang was quite cunning, interrogated her 13 times without results, her confession was repeated, and at one point she lied about using water to extinguish the fire before leaving, and then lied that all the evidence was thrown into the river, causing the "Coast Guard" Fifth Shore Patrol to send personnel to the water many times without success. Huang geng refused to take a lie detector and did not cooperate with the case at all.
Based on the results of the investigation, as well as relevant witnesses and exhibits, the Kaohsiung District Public Prosecutor's Office found that Huang deliberately ignited a fire in the suite, causing a fire, killing 46 residents, and prosecuted him for "homicide" and "public danger". At the same time, the court was asked to consider that Huang was only suspicious of feelings and resentful, and he was out of control after drinking, deliberately igniting a fire to make trouble to embarrass his boyfriend, and even causing a fire to kill him, coupled with no remorse after committing the crime, and having a bad attitude, Jian asked the court to impose capital punishment and deprive him of public power for life.
As for Huang Gege's boyfriend Guo Mou, he was once listed as a defendant for "improper suite management", but because he did leave the scene before the incident and could not foresee the danger, the prosecution finally decided not to prosecute.
