On August 6, 1945, with the loud noise of Hiroshima in Japan, the city of Hiroshima was subsequently razed to the ground, and the world saw the power of the atomic bomb for the first time, and the words "nuclear weapons" and "nuclear threat" were all nerve-wracking.
The power of the atomic bomb is so great, in this context, China must also have its own atomic bomb for its own security and world peace, so in 1955, China issued a call for mobilization, and then a large number of manpower and material resources were invested in the study of the atomic bomb.
At that time, China and the Soviet Union were in the honeymoon period, the Soviet Union already had atomic bombs, as a "teacher", the Soviet Union sent many experts in relevant fields to China, and the two sides also signed a cooperation agreement, but what was unexpected was that the Soviet Union unilaterally tore up the agreement in June 1959.
The Soviet Union, disregarding the credibility of the great powers, stopped technical and material assistance to China, withdrew all Soviet experts, and took away equipment and qualifications, which suddenly made China "poor and white" in nuclear weapons research, hoping to prevent China from developing atomic bombs.
The Soviet Union said contemptuously at the time: "China has no Soviet assistance and cannot study the atomic bomb in 20 years." This made Chinese hold his breath, there is an old Chinese saying, "Don't steam steamed "We Chinese we must develop the atomic bomb ourselves."
The Soviet side withdrew its experts in June 1959, so China took the code name of the atomic bomb project "596" to remember this date, but also for secrecy, from this moment on Chinese embarked on the road of developing atomic bombs alone, everything from scratch.
At that time, the international environment was very bad, the United States has always been jealous of China's development of atomic bombs, long-term high-altitude flight reconnaissance of China, the United States U2 aircraft flew around in China's airspace, took a large number of photos, and the United States even threatened to carry out "surgical operations" on China.
The United States has clamored for China's nuclear capability sterilization, and these remarks by the United States not only did not scare Chinese, but made us more vigilant and aware of the importance of nuclear secrecy, especially when conducting nuclear tests, which must be absolutely confidential.
At that time, all aspects of the secrecy measures were carried out, and even Premier Zhou did not reveal a single bit of information to Deng Yingchao, until the newspaper reported that China's first atomic bomb was successfully detonated, Deng Yingchao did not know about this matter, which showed the high degree of secrecy, even the prime minister's wife.
Before preparing for the nuclear test, the protection of the nuclear base was carried out in an intense and orderly manner, the anti-aircraft guns and the army were ready, and only the last link was left, that is, to give the atomic bomb a code name, such as the American atomic bomb called "Little Boy" and the Soviet Union's first atomic bomb called "Pumpkin".
The replacement number is for secrecy, so what should China's first atomic bomb be called? At that time, everyone discussed that they could call it "Miss Ball", because the atomic bomb looked like a ball, but later felt that the name was indecent, so they took the harmonic pronunciation and called it "Miss Qiu".
In this way, everyone called the atomic bomb "Miss Qiu", and later, when drawing up the secret language table, the superiors took into account that most of the people who developed the atomic bomb were gay men, and the name "Miss Qiu" was not strong, so it was set as "Old Qiu", but everyone still habitually called it "Miss Qiu".
In 1964, with a loud noise, a huge mushroom cloud rose, China's first atomic bomb exploded successfully, shocking the whole world, the Soviet Union never expected that China had developed its own atomic bomb in just a few years, and since then the Chinese state has been fully guaranteed.
