The star confirmed Friday night that actress Regina King's only son had died.
King confirmed to People magazine that Ian Alexander Jr., who turned 26 on Wednesday, ended his life.
"Losing Ian, our family has suffered at the deepest level," King said in a statement to People magazine. "He is such a beacon, so concerned about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respect during this private time. Thank you. ”
King's son is a record producer. According to People magazine, his father, Ian Alexander Sr., was a record producer and Kim's ex-husband. The couple separated in 2007 and Kim raised her son as a single parent.

King, 51, a native of Cincinnati, won an Oscar in 2018 for playing Sharon Rivers in "If Beale Street Could Talk."
Her other films include "The Hood Boys," "Jerry Maguire," "How Stella Got Her Grooves Back," "Daddy Daycare," "Ray," and 2021's "The Harder They Fell."
When King was 50 years old, her son paid tribute to his mother on Instagram.
