Recently, the third "tribute" to the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV products also appeared, from BAIC Manufacturing, named BAIC Manufacturing S3 and S5, of which S3 is a three-door version, the same as the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, and the S5 is a five-door version, more practical.
The full name of BAIC Manufacturing is Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Factory Co., Ltd., abbreviated as "BAW", it is not the same company as Baiqi Automobile, the headquarters of BAIC Manufacturing is located in Qingdao, Shandong, and the major shareholder is Lufu Group in Dezhou, Shandong. This Lufu Group is the production of low-speed electric vehicles (old scooters), "Licci" is the brand of Lufu.
The most famous product made by BAIC is the "living fossil" BAIC 212, and recently there are rumors that BAIC 212 is finally going to be replaced, which is gratifying. It just needs to be strengthened.
The BAIC manufacturing launched two pure electric mini cars, the appearance is basically the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, the overall outline is similar, but the front face has been redesigned, and the interior is also a new design.
In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the BAIC manufacturing S3 are 3151/1498/1585mm, the S5 is 3498/1498/1580mm, and the five-door version of the S5 is obviously larger than a lap and can also be arranged with a larger battery pack.
Both models are equipped with a 20kW drive motor with a maximum torque of 85Nm, the same as the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV. In terms of endurance, BAIC manufacturing S3 has 120km, 170km and 200km versions respectively, while the S5 has 120km, 150km, 200km and 300km versions respectively.
In terms of configuration, the dual screen of some models is more eye-catching, and there are even 360-degree images, multi-function steering wheel buttons and other configurations. However, it is expected that these configurations will only be available with high allocation.
It is estimated that the overall price of BAIC manufacturing S3/S5 will be between 30,000 and 50,000 yuan, which is still the market of Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, but Wuling and Chery have a first-mover advantage, BAIC manufacturing as a latecomer, it is a bit difficult to get a piece of the pie, not to mention that BAIC manufacturing is not a relatively well-known and strong brand, and the products launched before are not well-known.
