Pattern meaning
Baoxiang patterns flourished during the Sui and Tang dynasties. Legend has it that it is a decorative pattern with the meaning of "treasure" and "immortal". The ornamental composition is generally composed of certain flowers (such as peonies and lotuses) as the main body, and the middle is inlaid with other flowers and leaves of different shapes, sizes and thicknesses. Especially at the base of the flower core and petals, the beads are arranged regularly, like sparkling orbs, with multiple levels of fading, appearing rich and precious, so it is called "Baoxiang Flower". In gold and silverware, Dunhuang patterns, stone carvings, fabrics, embroidery and other aspects, there are common treasure phase patterns.
As a product of the integration of Chinese and foreign cultures, the Tang Dynasty Baoxianghua embodies the eclectic Tang Dynasty atmosphere with a plump and rounded shape, and its cultural meaning shifts from a noble and holy religious symbol to an auspicious secular meaning, which satisfies the spiritual pursuit of people's secular life. With the development of the times, the treasure phase pattern has gradually become secularized, no longer limited to simply expounding religious connotations, but more inclined to artistry and decoration.

At the same time, as an important component of the Mogao Cave Mojing pattern, Baoxianghua has a rich cultural connotation, which prevailed in the Tang Dynasty, conveyed the aesthetic concept of Tang Dynasty decoration, and had an important impact on the decorative aesthetics of later generations.
