The launch of EQS last year gave Mercedes-Benz a truly pure electric model, and the EQS built based on the EVA pure electric platform was indeed in the new energy models in the BBA, which attracted a lot of attention. Since then, Mercedes-Benz has also begun to officially bring new energy models into the domestic market.
In order to make the lineup of Mercedes-Benz pure electric models gradually stronger, Mercedes-Benz will officially release the EQS SUV and the first EQE SUV at this year's Beijing Auto Show, two blockbuster high-level pure electric SUV models. It can be seen from the naming method that the name of the current Mercedes-Benz pure electric vehicle car is EQ plus the level letter, and the SUV is the EQ + level letter + SUV.
According to the small editor of the car, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV has previously been tested in China, and the new car is from the new EVA electrification platform of Mercedes-Benz, positioned as a large pure electric SUV, which is the flagship model of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. The body length may reach 5160mm, using a 7-seat layout.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, the overall design and EQS SUV use the same design language, but the overall body size is smaller than the EQS SUV, the body length will be 4850mm, and the interior will adopt a 5-seat layout.
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will be produced by Beijing Benz in the future and put into operation at the Mercedes-Benz Shunyi plant in 2023. As a pure electric SUV model of the same level as the fuel version of the GLE, the main competitor of the new car in the future is undoubtedly Tesla Mode X and NIO ES8 and other models.
In terms of interior, the EQS SUV continues the design style of EQS, and the three screens of the entire center console are connected together, and the length exceeds 140cm. In addition to the buttons on the multi-functional steering wheel, there are basically no other physical buttons in the car, and with the air outlet of the through-type air conditioner, the entire interior highlights a high future technology atmosphere.
In terms of power, with reference to the domestic EQS models EQS 580 4MATIC and EQS 450+ models, the EQS SUV is expected to provide 111.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and two motors, and the end time is expected to reach 700 km. The EQS 580 SUV 4MATIC will be powered at 517 horsepower, the EQS 450+ SUV 4MATIC will be powered at 333 horsepower, and the EQS SUV will also be the first EV model in Maybach, which will be named after the EQS 600 SUV.
The EQE SUV will use a 90.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a choice of rear-wheel drive single-motor or four-wheel drive dual-motor layouts, which will provide 288 horsepower and 530N·m, and the cruising range is expected to be about 650 kilometers.
It can be seen that the two models of EQS and EQE SUV that will be launched this time are different from the previous EQA and EQB. The EQS and EQE SUVs are pure electric models built on the new EVA electric chassis, while the EQB and EQA are based on GLB and GLA fuel vehicles respectively. After the official launch of these two pure electric SUVs, Mercedes-Benz's official electric vehicle sequence will also be basically perfected, which also indicates that Mercedes-Benz will be expected to fully cover the pure electric platform model in the market by 2025.
